Psalms 69:24

24 Pour out thy indignation upon them, and let thy burning anger overtake them.

Psalms 69:24 Meaning and Commentary

Psalms 69:24

Pour out thine indignation upon them
Not a few drops of it only, but a flood of it, sweeping away and bearing down all before it; which was done when wrath came upon them to the uttermost, in the destruction of their city, temple, and nation, ( 1 Thessalonians 2:16 ) ;

let thy wrathful anger take hold of them;
follow after them, overtake them, seize upon them, and hold them fast, that they may not escape. It denotes the severity of God towards them; the fierceness and fury of his wrath upon them; and that their destruction would be inevitable, and an entire and utter one.

Psalms 69:24 In-Context

22 Let their own table before them become a snare; let their sacrificial feasts be a trap.
23 Let their eyes be darkened, so that they cannot see; and make their loins tremble continually.
24 Pour out thy indignation upon them, and let thy burning anger overtake them.
25 May their camp be a desolation, let no one dwell in their tents.
26 For they persecute him whom thou hast smitten, and him whom thou hast wounded, they afflict still more.
