John 16:12

12 I have yet many things to say to you, but ye cannot bear them now.

John 16:12 Meaning and Commentary

John 16:12

I have yet many things to say unto you
Not with respect to the main doctrines of the Gospel, for everything of this kind he had made known unto them, ( John 15:15 ) ; but what regarded the rejection of the Jews, and the calling of the Gentiles, the abrogation of the Mosaic economy, and settling the Gospel church state, which were to come to pass after the death and resurrection of Christ, and the sending of the Spirit:

but ye cannot bear them now;
because of their prejudices in favour of their own nation, the law of Moses, and the ceremonies of it, and the setting up of a temporal kingdom.

John 16:12 In-Context

10 of righteousness, because I go away to [my] Father, and ye behold me no longer;
11 of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.
12 I have yet many things to say to you, but ye cannot bear them now.
13 But when *he* is come, the Spirit of truth, he shall guide you into all the truth: for he shall not speak from himself; but whatsoever he shall hear he shall speak; and he will announce to you what is coming.
14 He shall glorify me, for he shall receive of mine and shall announce [it] to you.
