1Though I speak with the tongues of menand of angels, andhavenotcharity, I am become as soundingbrass,or a tinklingcymbal.2Andthough I have the gift of prophecy, andunderstandallmysteries, andallknowledge;andthough I haveallfaith,so that I could removemountains, andhavenotcharity, I amnothing.3Andthough I bestowallmygoods to feed the poor, andthough I givemybodyto be burned , andhavenotcharity, it profiteth menothing.4Charity suffereth long , and is kind ; charityenviethnot;charityvauntethanotitself , isnot puffed up ,
5Dothnot behave itself unseemly , seekethnot her own, isnot easily provoked , thinkethnoevil;6Rejoicethnotininiquity,butrejoiceth in the truth;b7Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.8Charityneverfaileth : butwhether there be prophecies, they shall fail ;cwhether there be tongues, they shall cease ; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away .
9For we knowinpart,and we prophesyinpart.10Butwhen that which is perfect is come , then that which is inpart shall be done away .d11When I was a child, I spakeas a child, I understoodas a child, I thoughteas a child:butwhen I became a man, I put away childish things.12Fornow we seethrough a glass,darkly ;fbutthenfacetoface:now I knowinpart;butthen shall I know even asalso I am known .
13Andnowabidethfaith,hope,charity,thesethree;but the greatest of these is charity.
