Psalm 6 (New International Version)

View In My Bible

For the director of music. With stringed instruments. According to "sheminith." A psalm of David.

1 O LORD, do not rebuke me in your anger1 or discipline me in your wrath. 2 Be merciful to me,2 LORD, for I am faint;3 O LORD, heal me,4 for my bones are in agony.5 3 My soul is in anguish.6 How long,7 O LORD, how long? 4 Turn,8 O LORD, and deliver me; save me because of your unfailing love.9 5 No one remembers you when he is dead. Who praises you from the gravea ?10 6 I am worn out11 from groaning;12 all night long I flood my bed with weeping13 and drench my couch with tears.14 7 My eyes grow weak15 with sorrow; they fail because of all my foes. 8 Away from me,16 all you who do evil,17 for the LORD has heard my weeping. 9 The LORD has heard my cry for mercy;18 the LORD accepts my prayer. 10 All my enemies will be ashamed and dismayed;19 they will turn back in sudden disgrace.20
