If you were to ask a group of kids what Bible stories they know, many of them would likely say, “Jonah and the Whale” at some point. One of the most popular stories in the Bible is tucked away in a tiny book in the Old Testament. We do not know much about Jonah, but his story teaches us a lot about God. Today we are going to go through what we can learn from the story of Jonah in the Bible.

Have you ever thought about why you have had a certain emotional or physical struggle your whole life? Have you wondered why even though you have prayed, the Lord has not taken away your temptation or your weakness? Paul did too.

No matter what kind of day we are having, what struggles we are facing, or what celebrations we have, taking the intentional time to pray and thank God opens our eyes to His glory.

How do you see your day ahead? Are you someone who wants to rush as fast as you can through the detours of life? Do detours lead you to sin, or lead you into holiness? With the help of the Holy Spirit, we can be led into holiness and live life on mission for the gospel.

Throughout the Bible we are affirmed of the truth that we can lean on Him. No matter how strong we feel or how feeble we may be, Jesus is always waiting for us to come to Him.

Persecution is happening now. And it was happening in the time of the disciples too. In fact, eleven of the twelve would later be martyred for their faith. Jesus was giving them hope even in the midst of their own trying times. The truth is, all of these thus far have happened and continue to take place. We are awaiting a specific sign for the end to come.

When we look at God’s Word, we do not pick and choose what we would like and what we would not like to include in our lives. We have to look at the context of what we are reading and who it was written to. Just like every promise is not for every believer, every command in the Old Testament is not for every child of God after Jesus’ resurrection.

In what area of your life are you weary right now? It is important that we do not take that lightly. An area of weariness can easily lead to sin if we are not careful. In our weaknesses, the Devil can accomplish his purposes in our lives, or we can hope in the Lord. When we place our hope in the Lord, He renews our strength.

Prayer and interceding on behalf of others is a beautiful privilege that the body of Christ often neglects. Let’s take some time to pray around this topic and seek the Lord at His Word today.

It was a day of joy for many people at the Roe v. Wade reversal last week, but a source of upset for many too. Abortion is a key social issue within our country. However, politics aside, as Christians, we need to look to see what God says in the Bible about abortion, about women who have them, and about how we represent Christ well in this heated debate.

How are you singing praises to God today?

Looking back brings us closer to the Lord through confession and repentance. It helps us to remember how far we have come with the help of God. It gives us added encouragement from how the Lord worked before and trusting that He will work again. The danger comes when we ignore the past, we tend to forget how sinful we are.

Ultimately, only God the Father Himself is the perfect dad.
