Génesis 21:5-17

5 Abraham tenía cien años cuando le nació su hijo Isaac.

6 Y dijo Sara: Dios me ha hecho reír; cualquiera que lo oiga se reirá conmigo.

7 Y añadió: ¿Quién le hubiera dicho a Abraham que Sara amamantaría hijos? Pues bien, le he dado a luz un hijo en su vejez.

8 Y el niño creció y fue destetado, y Abraham hizo un gran banquete el día que Isaac fue destetado.

9 Y Sara vio al hijo que Agar la egipcia le había dado a luz a Abraham burlándose de su hijo Isaac ,

10 y dijo a Abraham: Echa fuera a esta sierva y a su hijo, porque el hijo de esta sierva no ha de ser heredero juntamente con mi hijo Isaac.

11 Y el asunto angustió a Abraham en gran manera por tratarse de su hijo.

12 Mas Dios dijo a Abraham: No te angusties por el muchacho ni por tu sierva; presta atención a todo lo que Sara te diga, porque por Isaac será llamada tu descendencia.

13 Y también del hijo de la sierva haré una nación, por ser tu descendiente.

14 Se levantó, pues, Abraham muy de mañana, tomó pan y un odre de agua y los dio a Agar poniéndoselos sobre el hombro, y le dio el muchacho y la despidió. Y ella se fue y anduvo errante por el desierto de Beerseba.

15 Y el agua en el odre se acabó, y ella dejó al muchacho debajo de uno de los arbustos,

16 y ella fue y se sentó enfrente, como a un tiro de arco de distancia, porque dijo: Que no vea yo morir al niño. Y se sentó enfrente y alzó su voz y lloró.

17 Y oyó Dios la voz del muchacho que lloraba; y el ángel de Dios llamó a Agar desde el cielo, y le dijo: ¿Qué tienes, Agar? No temas, porque Dios ha oído la voz del muchacho en donde está.

INTRODUCTION TO GENESIS 21

This chapter gives an account of the conception, birth, circumcision, and weaning of Isaac, Ge 21:1-8; of the mocking of Ishmael, and of the casting out of him and his mother from Abraham's house, at the request of Sarah, which, though grievous to Abraham, he complied with at the direction of God, Ge 21:9-13; of the provision Abraham made for their departure, and of the supply they met with in the wilderness from God, where Ishmael was brought up, and where he married, Ge 21:14-21; and of a covenant between Abraham and Abimelech, king of Gerar, Ge 21:22-32; and of Abraham's planting a grove, and calling on the name of the Lord, Ge 21:33; and the chapter is closed with this observation, that Abraham sojourned in the land of the Philistines many days, Ge 21:34.
