Luke 10:9

9 Heal the sick there, and tell them, `The Kingdom of God is near you.'

Luke 10:9 Meaning and Commentary

Luke 10:9

And heal the sick that are therein
Of all their bodily diseases, which would not only show their power and warrant, theft mission and commission, but also their goodness and beneficence to men; and would be a sufficient return for what they ate and drank:

and say unto them;
not only to the sick that are healed, and those in the house in which they were, but to all the inhabitants of the city;

the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you:
the Gospel dispensation, the kingdom of the Messiah, and even the Messiah himself, as might be concluded from the miracles they wrought; and thus by their ministry and works, were they to go before Christ, and prepare his way.

Luke 10:9 In-Context

7 Stay in that same house, eating and drinking what they offer, for a worker deserves his wages -- don't move about from house to house.
8 "Whenever you come into a town where they make you welcome, eat what is put in front of you.
9 Heal the sick there, and tell them, `The Kingdom of God is near you.'
10 But whenever you enter a town and they don't make you welcome, go out into its streets and say,
11 `Even the dust of your town that sticks to our feet we wipe off as a sign against you! But understand this: the Kingdom of God is near!'
