11–16 In these verses, the Lord again says that the Pharaoh and his people will be overthrown by the most ruthless of all nations—namely, Babylon (verse 12).
17–32 In his final message against Egypt, Ezekiel is told to lament for Egypt as it descends to the earth below . . . down to the pit—the grave, the place of death (verse 18). There the slain Egyptians will be laid among the uncircumcised (verse 19)that is, among the disgraced, the uncivilized, the ungodly (see Ezekiel 28:10). Other nations will be there already:Assyria (verse 22); Elam—present–day Iran (verse 24); Meshech and Tubal—present–day Turkey (verse 26); and many others. Such is the end of all nations and civilizations that do not acknowledge the one true God, the God of Israel.
