Genesis 17:22

And he left off talking; with him
After he had finished all he had to say to him at this time. It was great condescension in the divine Being to talk with a creature; it was wonderful grace and kindness to make such promises to him, as he did, and indulge him with answers of prayer and communion with him; but the highest enjoyments of God here are not lasting; uninterrupted communion with him is reserved for another world:

and God went up from Abraham;
from the earth, where he had been with Abraham, and ascended above him up to heaven, in a visible, and very likely in an human form, in which he descended: the Targums of Onkelos and Jonathan paraphrase it, "the glory of the Lord", the glorious Shechinah, the Lord of life and glory.

20 至 於 以 實 瑪 利 ， 我 也 應 允 你 ： 我 必 賜 福 給 他 ， 使 他 昌 盛 ， 極 其 繁 多 。 他 必 生 十 二 個 族 長 ； 我 也 要 使 他 成 為 大 國 。

21 到 明 年 這 時 節 ， 撒 拉 必 給 你 生 以 撒 ， 我 要 與 他 堅 定 所 立 的 約 。

23 正 當 那 日 ， 亞 伯 拉 罕 遵 著 　 神 的 命 ， 給 他 的 兒 子 以 實 瑪 利 和 家 裡 的 一 切 男 子 ， 無 論 是 在 家 裡 生 的 ， 是 用 銀 子 買 的 ， 都 行 了 割 禮 。
