36 約 拿 單 對 童 子 說 ： 你 跑 去 ， 把 我 所 射 的 箭 找 來 。 童 子 跑 去 ， 約 拿 單 就 把 箭 射 在 童 子 前 頭 。

And he said unto his lad, run, find out now the arrows which
I shoot
He no doubt told him the mark which he should shoot at, the stone Ezel, and bid him look out about that for them:

[and] as the lad ran;
before he had got to the mark:

he shot an arrow beyond him:
or it; beyond the lad, or beyond the mark he shot at; purposely shooting with great strength, that he might exceed, and thereby give notice to David how things stood, which was the sign agreed on.

34 於 是 約 拿 單 氣 忿 忿 地 從 席 上 起 來 ， 在 這 初 二 日 沒 有 吃 飯 。 他 因 見 父 親 羞 辱 大 衛 ， 就 為 大 衛 愁 煩 。

35 次 日 早 晨 ， 約 拿 單 按 著 與 大 衛 約 會 的 時 候 出 到 田 野 ， 有 一 個 童 子 跟 隨 。

36 約 拿 單 對 童 子 說 ： 你 跑 去 ， 把 我 所 射 的 箭 找 來 。 童 子 跑 去 ， 約 拿 單 就 把 箭 射 在 童 子 前 頭 。

37 童 子 到 了 約 拿 單 落 箭 之 地 ， 約 拿 單 呼 叫 童 子 說 ： 箭 不 是 在 你 前 頭 麼 ？

38 約 拿 單 又 呼 叫 童 子 說 ： 速 速 地 去 ， 不 要 遲 延 ！ 童 子 就 拾 起 箭 來 ， 回 到 主 人 那 裡 。
