Dànyǐlǐshū 11

1 Yòu shuō , dāng Mǎdaì wáng Dàlìwū yuán nián , wǒ céng qǐlai fúzhù Mǐjiā lēi , shǐ tā jiān qiáng .

2 Xiànzaì wǒ jiāng zhēn shì zhǐshì nǐ , Bōsī hái yǒu sān wáng xīngqǐ , dì sì wáng bì fùzú yuǎn shēng zhū wáng . tā yīn fùzú chéngwéi qiángshèng , jiù bì jīdòng dà zhòng gōngjī xī là guó .

3 Bì yǒu yī gè yǒnggǎn de wáng xīngqǐ , zhí zhǎng dà quán , suíyì ér xíng .

4 Tā xīngqǐ de shíhou , tāde guó bì pòliè , xiàng tiān de sìfāng ( fāng yuánwén zuò fēng ) fēnkāi , què bú guī tāde hòuyì , zhì guó de yĕ dōu bú jí tā . yīnwei tāde guó bì beì bá chū , guīyǔ tā hòuyì zhī waì de rén .

5 Nánfāng de wáng bì qiángshèng , tā jiāng shuaì zhōng bì yǒu yī gè bǐ tā gēng qiángshèng , zhí zhǎngquán bǐng , tāde quánbǐng shén dà .

6 Guō xiē nián hòu , tāmen bì hùxiāng lián hé , nánfāng wáng de nǚér bì jiù le bĕi fāng wáng lái lì yuē . dàn zhè nǚzi bāngzhu zhī lì cún lì bù zhù , wáng hé tā suǒ yǐkào zhī lì yĕ bùnéng cún lì . zhè nǚzi hé yǐndǎo tā lái de , bìng shēng tāde , yǐjí dāngshí fúzhù tāde , dōu Bìjiāo yú sǐdì .

7 Dàn zhè nǚzi de bĕn jiā ( yuánwén zuò gēn ) bì Lìng shēng yī zǐ ( zǐ yuánwén zuò zhī ) jìxù wáng wèi , tā bì shuaìlǐng jūnduì jìnrù bĕi fāng wáng de bǎo zhàng , gōngjī tāmen , érqiĕ déshèng .

8 Bìng jiāng tāmende shénxiàng hé zhù chéng de ǒuxiàng , yǔ jīn yín de bǎo qì lüè dào Āijí qù . shǔ nián zhī neì , tā bú qù gōngjī bĕi fāng de wáng .

9 Bĕi fāng de wáng ( yuán wén zuò tā ) bì rù nánfāng wáng de guó , què yào réng huí bĕn dì .

10 Bĕi fāng wáng ( yuánwén zuò tā ) de èr zǐ bì dòng gān gē , zhāo jù xǔduō jūn bīng . zhè jūn bīng qián qù , rú hóngshuǐ fànlàn , yòu bì zaì qù zhēng zhàn , zhídào nánfāng wáng de bǎo zhàng .

11 Nánfāng wáng bì fā liè nù , chūlai yǔ bĕi fāng wáng zhēng zhàn , bǎi liè dà jūn . bĕi fāng wáng de jūn bīng Bìjiāofù tā shǒu .

12 Tāde zhòng jūn gāo ào , tāde xīn yĕ bì zì gāo . tā suī shǐ shǔ wàn rén pú dǎo , què bùdé cháng shēng .

13 Bĕi fāng wáng bì huí lái bǎi liè dà jūn , bǐ xiānqián de gèng duō . mǎn le suǒ déng de nián shǔ , tā bì shuaìlǐng dà jūn , daì jí duō de jūn zhuāng lái .

14 Nàshí , bì yǒu xǔduō rén qǐlai gōngjī nánfāng wáng , bìngqiĕ nǐ bĕn guó de qiángbào rén bì xīngqǐ , yào yìngyàn nà yìxiàng , tāmen què yào baì wáng .

15 Bĕi fāng wáng bì lái zhú lĕi gōng qǔ jiāngù chéng . nánfāng de jūn bīng bì zhàn lì bù zhù , jiù shì xuǎnzé de jīng bīng ( jīng bīng yuánwén zuò mín ) yĕ wúlì zhàn zhù .

16 Lái gōngjī tāde , bì rènyì ér xíng , wú rén zaì bĕi fāng wáng ( yuánwén zuò tā ) miànqián shān lì dé zhù . tā bì zhàn zaì nà róng mĕi zhī dì , yòng shǒu shīxíng huǐmiè .

17 Tā bìdéng yì yòng quán guó zhī lì ér lái , lì gōng zhēng de yuē , zhào yuē ér xíng , jiāng zìjǐ de nǚér gĕi nánfāng wáng wèi qī , xiǎng yào baìhuaì tā ( huò zuò Āijí ) , zhè jì què bùdé chéngjiù , yǔ zìjǐ haó wúyì chù .

18 Qí hòu tā bì zhuǎn huí duó qǔ le xǔduō hǎidǎo . dàn yǒu yī dà shuaì , chúdiào tā líng rén shòu de xiūrǔ , bìngqiĕ shǐ zhè xiūrǔ guī tā bĕn shēn .

19 Tā jiù bì zhuǎn xiàng bĕn dì de bǎo zhàng , què yào bàn diē pú dǎo , guīyú wú yǒu .

20 Nàshí , bì yǒu yī rén xīngqǐ jiēxù tā wèi wáng , shǐ héng zhēng bào liǎn de rén tōng xíng guó zhōng de róng mĕi dì . zhè wáng bú duō rì jiù bì mièwáng , què bú yīn fèn nù , yĕ bú yīn zhēng zhàn .

21 Bì yǒu yī gè bēi bǐ de rén xīngqǐ jiēxù wèi wáng , rén wèicéng jiāng guó de zūnróng gĕi tā , tā què chèn rén tǎnrán wú beì de shíhou , yòng chǎnmeì de huà dé guó .

22 Bì yǒu wú shu de jūn bīng shì rú hóngshuǐ , zaì tā miànqián chōng mò baìhuaì . tóngméng de jūn yĕ bì rúcǐ .

23 Yǔ nà jūn jié míng zhī hòu , tā bì xíng guǐzhà , yīnwei tā bì shang lái yǐ wēi xiǎo de jūn ( yuánwén zuò mín ) chéngwéi qiángshèng .

24 Chèn rén tǎnrán wú beì de shíhou , tā bì lái dào guó zhōng jí féimĕi zhī dì , xíng tā lièzǔ hé tā lièzǔ zhī zǔ suǒ wèicéng xíng de , jiāng lǔ wù , lüè wù , hé cáibǎo sǎn gĕi zhòngrén , yòu yào shèjì gōngdǎ bǎo zhàng , ránér zhè dōu shì zànshí de .

25 Tā bì fèn yǒng xiàng qián , shuaìlǐng dà jūn gōngjī nánfāng wáng . nánfāng wáng yĕ bì yǐ jí dà jí qiáng de jūn bīng yǔ tā zhēng zhàn , què zhàn lì bù zhù , yīnwei yǒu rén shèjì móu haì nánfāng wáng .

26 Chī wáng shàn de , bì baìhuaì tā . tāde jūnduì bì beì chòng mò , érqiĕ beì shā de shén duō .

27 Zhìyú zhè èr wáng , tāmen xīnhuái è jì , tóng xí shuōhuǎng , jì móu què bú chéngjiù . yīnwei dào le déng qī , shì jiù liǎojié .

28 Bĕi fāng wáng ( yuánwén zuò tā ) bì daì xǔduō cáibǎo huí wǎng bĕn guó , tāde xīn fǎnduì shèng yuē , rènyì ér xíng , huí dào bĕn dì .

29 Dào le déng qī , tā bì fǎn huí , lái dào nánfāng . hòu yī cì què bú rú qián yī cì ,

30 Yīnwei Jītí zhàn chuán bì lái gōngjī tā , tā jiù sāng dǎn ér huí , yòu yào nǎohèn shèng yuē , rènyì ér xíng . tā bì huí lái liánluò beìqì shèng yuē de rén .

31 Tā bì xīng bīng , zhè bīng bì xièdú shèng dì , jiù shì bǎo zhàng , chúdiào cháng xiàn de Fánjì , shèlì nà xíng huǐhuaì kĕ zēng de .

32 Zuò è wéibeì shèng yuē de rén , tā bì yòng qiǎo yán gōuyǐn . wéidú rènshi shén de zǐmín bì gāngqiáng xíngshì .

33 Mínjiān de zhìhuì rén bì xùn huì duō rén . ránér tāmen duō rì bì dǎo zaì dāo xià , huò beì huǒshào , huò beìlǔ lüè qiǎngduó .

34 Tāmen pú dǎo de shíhou , shāo dé fúzhù , què yǒu xǔduō rén yòng chǎnmeì de huà qīnjìn tāmen .

35 Zhìhuì rén zhōng yǒu xiē pú dǎo de , wèi yào aó liàn qíyú de rén , shǐ tāmen qīngjìng jiébái , zhídào mòliǎo . yīnwei dào le déng qī , shì jiù liǎojié .

36 Wáng bì rènyì ér xíng , zì gāo zì dà , chāo guō suǒyǒude shén , yòu yòng qí yì de huà gōngjī wàn shén zhī shén . tā bì xíngshì hēng tōng , zhídào zhǔ de fèn nù wánbì , yīnwei suǒ déng de shì bìrán chéngjiù .

37 Tā bì bú gù tā lièzǔ de shén , yĕ bú gù fùnǚ suǒ xiànmù de shén , wúlùn hé shén tā dōu bú gù . yīnwei tā bì zì dà , gāo guō yīqiè .

38 Tā dǎo yào jìngbaì bǎo zhàng de shén , yòng jīn , yín , bǎoshí hé kĕaì zhī wù jìngfèng tā lièzǔ suǒ bú rènshi de shén .

39 Tā bì kào waì bāng shén de bāngzhu , gōng pò zuì jiāngù de bǎo zhàng . fán chéngrèn tāde , tā bìjiāng róngyào jiā gĕi tāmen , shǐ tāmen guǎnxiá xǔduō rén , yòu wèi huìlù fēn dì yǔ tāmen .

40 Dào mòliǎo , nánfāng wáng yào yǔ tā jiāo zhàn . bĕi fāng wáng bì yòng zhàn chē , mǎ bīng , hé xǔduō zhàn chuán , shì rú bàofēng lái gōngjī tā , yĕ bì jìnrù liè guó , rú hóngshuǐ fànlàn .

41 Yòu bì jìnrù nà róng mĕi zhī dì , yǒu xǔduō guó jiù beì qīngfù , dàn Yǐdōng rén , Móyē rén , hé yī dà bàn Yàmén rén bì tuōlí tāde shǒu .

42 Tā bì shēnshǒu gōngjī liè guó . Āijí dì yĕ bùdé tuōlí .

43 Tā bì bǎ chí Āijí de jīn yín cáibǎo hé gèyàng de bǎowù . lì bǐ yà rén hé Gǔshí rén dōu bì gēn cóng tā .

44 Dàn cóng dōngfāng hé bĕi fāng bì yǒu xiāoxi rǎoluàn tā , tā jiù dà fā liè nù chū qù , yào jiāng duō rén shā miè jìng jǐn .

45 Tā bì zaì hǎi hé róng mĕi de shèng shān zhōngjiān shèlì tā rú gōngdiàn de zhàngmù . ránér dào le tāde jiéjú , bì wú rén néng bāngzhu tā .

Dànyǐlǐshū 11 Commentary

Chapter 11

The vision of the Scriptures of truth.

Verses 1-30 The angel shows Daniel the succession of the Persian and Grecian empires. The kings of Egypt and Syria are noticed: Judea was between their dominions, and affected by their contests. From ver. ( 5-30 ) , is generally considered to relate to the events which came to pass during the continuance of these governments; and from ver. ( 21 ) , to relate to Antiochus Epiphanes, who was a cruel and violent persecutor of the Jews. See what decaying, perishing things worldly pomp and possessions are, and the power by which they are gotten. God, in his providence, sets up one, and pulls down another, as he pleases. This world is full of wars and fightings, which come from men's lusts. All changes and revolutions of states and kingdoms, and every event, are plainly and perfectly foreseen by God. No word of God shall fall to the ground; but what he has designed, what he has declared, shall infallibly come to pass. While the potsherds of the earth strive with each other, they prevail and are prevailed against, deceive and are deceived; but those who know God will trust in him, and he will enable them to stand their ground, bear their cross, and maintain their conflict.

Verses 31-45 The remainder of this prophecy is very difficult, and commentators differ much respecting it. From Antiochus the account seems to pass to antichrist. Reference seems to be made to the Roman empire, the fourth monarchy, in its pagan, early Christian, and papal states. The end of the Lord's anger against his people approaches, as well as the end of his patience towards his enemies. If we would escape the ruin of the infidel, the idolater, the superstitious and cruel persecutor, as well as that of the profane, let us make the oracles of God our standard of truth and of duty, the foundation of our hope, and the light of our paths through this dark world, to the glorious inheritance above.

INTRODUCTION TO DANIEL 11

In this chapter the angel makes good his promise to Daniel, that he would show him what was written in the Scripture of truth, concerning the monarchies of the earth, and what would befall his people the Jews in the latter days; and after he had observed that he had strengthened and confirmed Darius the Mede, who was the first king of the then present flourishing monarchy, Da 11:1, he foretells the number of the kings of Persia, and particularly describes the fourth, Da 11:2 predicts the rise of the Grecian monarchy under Alexander the great, and the disposition of it after his death, Da 11:3,4 and then proceeds to give an account of the two principal kingdoms of that monarchy, into which it was divided, the Seleucidae and Lagidae; and of their kings, the king of Egypt, and the king of Syria, under the names of the king of the south, and the king of the north, and of their power and agreement, Da 11:5,6 and then of their various wars between themselves and others, and the success of them, Da 11:7-20, and particularly of Antiochus, his character and manner of coming to the kingdom, and of his wars with the king of Egypt, and the issue of them, Da 11:21-29 and of his persecution of the Jews, and the distress he should bring on them, and the use it should be of to the godly among them, Da 11:30-35, and then his antitype, antichrist, is described; the western antichrist, his character and actions, Da 11:36-39 then the eastern, his power, wealth and riches, hail and rain, Da 11:40-45.
