27 La parole de l'Eternel fut adressée à Jérémie, en ces mots, après que le roi eut brûlé le livre contenant les paroles que Baruc avait écrites sous la dictée de Jérémie:

Jeremiah 36:27

Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah
In the place where he was hid; the Lord knew where he was, for he hid him, and therefore could send his word to him: after the king had burnt the roll;
either with his own hands, or had ordered it to be burnt, or connived at the burning of it: and the words which Baruch wrote at the mouth of Jeremiah;
hence the Jews ^F21 gather, that when a man sees the book of the law burnt, that he is bound to rend his garments twice; once for the burning of the paper or parchment, and again for the burning of the writing; but no other is meant than the roll, in which the prophecies were written, Baruch took from the mouth of Jeremiah: saying;

25 Elnathan, Delaja et Guemaria, avaient fait des instances auprès du roi pour qu'il ne brûlât pas le livre; mais il ne les écouta pas.

26 Le roi ordonna à Jerachmeel, fils du roi, à Seraja, fils d'Azriel, et à Schélémia, fils d'Abdeel, de saisir Baruc, le secrétaire, et Jérémie, le prophète. Mais l'Eternel les cacha.

27 La parole de l'Eternel fut adressée à Jérémie, en ces mots, après que le roi eut brûlé le livre contenant les paroles que Baruc avait écrites sous la dictée de Jérémie:

28 Prends de nouveau un autre livre, et tu y écriras toutes les paroles qui étaient dans le premier livre qu'a brûlé Jojakim, roi de Juda.

29 Et sur Jojakim, roi de Juda, tu diras: Ainsi parle l'Eternel: Tu as brûlé ce livre, en disant: Pourquoi y as-tu écrit ces paroles: Le roi de Babylone viendra, il détruira ce pays, et il en fera disparaître les hommes et les bêtes?
