When he had left the crowd and entered1the house, 2His disciplesquestioned Him about the parable.

And He said to them, "Are you solacking in understandingalso? Do you not understand that whatevergoes into the man from outsidecannot*defile him,

because it does not go into his heart, but into his stomach, and is eliminated**?" (Thus He declared3allfoods4clean.)

And He was saying, "5That which proceeds out of the man, that is what defiles the man.

"For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed the evilthoughts, fornications, thefts, murders, adulteries,

deeds of coveting and wickedness, as well as deceit, sensuality, 6envy*, slander, pride and foolishness.

"Alltheseevilthingsproceed from within and defile the man."

But after hearing of Him, a womanwhoselittledaughterhad an uncleanspiritimmediatelycame and fell at His feet.

Now the woman was a Gentile, of the Syrophoenicianrace. And she kept asking Him to cast the demon out of her daughter.
