Leviticus 26:35

As long as it lieth desolate it shall rest
From tillage, neither man nor beast working upon it; for which reason such a space of time was called a sabbath: because it did not rest in your sabbaths, when you dwelt upon it;
they manured and tilled it on the seventh years, as on others, neglecting the command which God had given them; and this they did not once or twice, but many times, while they were dwellers in the land; which seems to confirm pretty much the notion of their having omitted so many years, though that cannot be affirmed with certainty; see Jarchi on the place.

33 Los dispersaré entre las naciones: desenvainaré la espada, y los perseguiré hasta dejar desolada su tierra, y en ruinas sus ciudades.

34 Entonces la tierra disfrutará de sus años sabáticos todo el tiempo que permanezca desolada, mientras ustedes vivan en el país de sus enemigos. Así la tierra descansará y disfrutará de sus sábados.

36 »En cuanto a los que sobrevivan, tan profundo será el temor que les infundiré en tierra de sus enemigos, que hasta el susurro de una hoja movida por el viento los pondrá en fuga. Correrán como quien huye de la espada, y caerán sin que nadie los persiga.

37 Como si huyeran de la espada, tropezarán unos con otros sin que nadie los persiga, y no podrán hacerles frente a sus enemigos.
