Mark 11:30

The baptism of John
The doctrine of which he was the first preacher, and the ordinance of which he was the first administrator:

was it from heaven, or of men?
was it of divine or of human institution?

answer me;
directly and plainly, without any shuffling, or evasion: it is a fair question, and may be answered; and the answer to it our Lord suggests would naturally lead to a proper one to their question; (See Gill on Matthew 21:25).

28 “Com que autoridade estás fazendo estas coisas? Quem te deu autoridade para fazê-las?”
29 Respondeu Jesus: “Eu farei uma pergunta. Respondam-me, e eu direi com que autoridade estou fazendo estas coisas.
30 O batismo de João era do céu ou dos homens? Digam-me!”
31 Eles discutiam entre si, dizendo: “Se dissermos: Dos céus, ele perguntará: ‘Então por que vocês não creram nele?’
32 Mas, se dissermos: Dos homens…”. Eles temiam o povo, pois todos realmente consideravam João um profeta.
