Psaume 68:23

23 Le Seigneur a dit: Je les ramènerai de Bassan, je les ramènerai des profondeurs de la mer;

Psaume 68:23 Meaning and Commentary

Psalms 68:23

That thy foot may be dipped in the blood of [thine] enemies,
&c.] This verse is in connection with ( Psalms 68:21 ) , with ( Psalms 68:23 ) being to be read in a parenthesis: the sense is, that the Messiah would so wound the head and hairy scalp of his people's enemies, and there should be such a large effusion of blood, that their feet should be dipped therein, ( Revelation 14:20 ) ; (See Gill on Psalms 58:10);

[and] the tongue of thy dogs in the same;
who should lick it up, as the dogs licked the blood of Jezebel, ( 1 Kings 21:19 ) ( 2 Kings 9:35 2 Kings 9:36 ) ; and so such a carnage will be made of antichrist and his followers, that the fowls of the heavens will be called upon to eat the flesh of kings, captains, and mighty ones, ( Revelation 19:17 Revelation 19:18 ) .

Psaume 68:23 In-Context

21 Dieu est pour nous le Dieu des délivrances; c'est l'Éternel notre Dieu qui retire de la mort.
22 Certainement Dieu écrasera la tête de ses ennemis, le crâne chevelu de celui qui marche dans ses forfaits.
23 Le Seigneur a dit: Je les ramènerai de Bassan, je les ramènerai des profondeurs de la mer;
24 Afin que tu plonges ton pied dans le sang, que la langue de tes chiens ait sa part des ennemis.
25 On a vu ta marche, ô Dieu, la marche de mon Dieu, de mon Roi, dans le sanctuaire.
