Oséias 10:5-15

5 O povo que mora em Samariateme pelo ídolo em forma de bezerro de Bete-Áven.^[a]Seu povo pranteará por ele,como também os seus sacerdotes idólatras,que se regozijavam por seu esplendor;porque foi tirado deles e levado para o exílio.

6 Sim, até ele será levado para a Assíriacomo tributo para o grande rei.Efraim sofrerá humilhação;e Israel será envergonhado por causa do seu ídolo de madeira.

7 Samaria e seu rei serão arrastadoscomo um graveto nas águas.

8 Os altares da impiedade,^[b]que foram os pecados de Israel, serão destruídos.Espinhos e ervas daninhas crescerãoe cobrirão os seus altares.Então eles dirão aos montes: “Cubram-nos!”,e às colinas: “Caiam sobre nós!”

9 “Desde os dias de Gibeá, você pecou, ó Israel,e permaneceu assim.Acaso a guerra não os alcançouem Gibeá por causa dos malfeitores?

10 Quando eu quiser, eu os castigarei;nações serão reunidas contra elespara prendê-los por causa do seu duplo pecado.

11 Efraim era bezerra treinada,gostava muito de trilhar;por isso colocareio jugo sobre o seu belo pescoço.Conduzirei Efraim,Judá terá que arar,e Jacó fará sulcos no solo.

12 Semeiem a retidão para si,colham o fruto da lealdadee façam sulcos no seu solo não arado;pois é hora de buscar o SENHOR,até que ele venhae faça chover justiça sobre vocês.

13 Mas vocês plantaram a impiedade,colheram o male comeram o fruto do engano.Visto que vocês têm confiado na sua própria forçae nos seus muitos guerreiros,

14 o fragor da batalha se levantará contra vocês,de maneira que todas as suas fortalezas serão devastadas,como Salmã devastou Bete-Arbel no dia da batalha,quando mães foram pisadas e estraçalhadas junto com seus filhos.

15 Assim acontecerá com você, ó Betel,porque a sua impiedade é grande.Quando amanhecer aquele dia,o rei de Israel será completamente destruído.

Oséias 10:5-15 Meaning and Commentary

INTRODUCTION TO HOSEA 10

This chapter is of the same argument with the former, and others before that; setting forth the sins of the ten tribes, and threatening them with the judgments of God for them; and exhorting them to repentance, and works of righteousness. They are charged with unfruitfulness and ingratitude; increasing in idolatry, as they increased in temporal good things, Ho 10:1; with a divided heart, and with irreverence of God, and their king; and with false swearing, covenant breaking, and injustice, Ho 10:2-4; and are threatened with a removal of their king, and with the destruction of their idols, and places of idolatry, which should cause fear in the common people, and mourning among the priests, Ho 10:1,5-8. It is observed, that their sin had been of long continuance, though the Lord had been kind and good unto them, in chastising them in love, giving them good laws, sending his prophets to exhort them to repentance and reformation, but all in vain, Ho 10:9-13; wherefore they are threatened with the spoiling of their fortresses, the destruction of the people, and the cutting off of their king, Ho 10:14,15.
