Jeremiah 16:14

Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the Lord
Or nevertheless, "notwithstanding" ^F4 their sins and iniquities, and the punishment brought upon them for them: or "surely", verily; for Jarchi says it is an oath, with which the Lord swore he would redeem them, though they had behaved so ill unto him: that it shall no more be said, the Lord liveth, that brought up the
children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;
this was the form of an oath with the Jews, when a man, as Kimchi observes, used to swear by the living God that brought Israel out of Egypt; or this was a fact which they used frequently to make mention of, and relate to their children; and observe to them the power and goodness of God in it; and so the Targum,

``there shall be no more any declaring the power of the Lord who brought up''

12 E voi avete fatto anche peggio de’ vostri padri; perché, ecco, ciascuno cammina seguendo la caparbietà del suo cuore malvagio, per non dare ascolto a me;

13 perciò io vi caccerò da questo paese in un paese che né voi né i vostri padri avete conosciuto; e quivi servirete giorno e notte ad altri dèi, perché io non vi farò grazia di sorta".

14 Perciò, ecco, i giorni vengono, dice l’Eterno, che non si dirà più: "L’Eterno è vivente, egli che trasse i figliuoli d’Israele fuori del paese d’Egitto",

15 ma: "L’Eterno è vivente, egli che ha tratto i figliuoli d’Israele fuori del paese del settentrione e di tutti gli altri paesi ne’ quali egli li aveva cacciati"; e io li ricondurrò nel loro paese, che avevo dato ai loro padri.

16 Ecco, io mando gran numero di pescatori a pescarli, dice l’Eterno; e poi manderò gran numero di cacciatori a dar loro la caccia sopra ogni monte, sopra ogni collina e nelle fessure delle rocce.
