19 perché non han dato ascolto alle mie parole, dice l’Eterno, che io ho mandate loro a dire dai miei servitori i profeti del continuo, fin dal mattino; ma essi non han dato ascolto, dice l’Eterno.

Jeremiah 29:19

Because they have not hearkened to my words, saith the Lord,
&c.] Which were spoken to them by the prophets; not hearkening to them, but despising them, were the same as not hearkening to him, and despising him; contempt of God, and his word, was the cause of their ruin; see ( 2 Chronicles 36:15 2 Chronicles 36:16 ) ; which I sent unto them by my servants the prophets;
such as Hosea, Isaiah, Micah, Jeremiah, and others: rising up early, and sending [them];
which denotes the frequency of their mission; the diligent care of God towards them; and his earnest solicitude for their welfare; and the plenty of means they were favoured with; all which were aggravations of their sin: but ye would not hear, saith the Lord;
the words of the Lord by his prophets; the counsel and admonitions he gave them; but pursued their own ways and counsels, and listened to the false prophets.

17 così parla l’Eterno degli eserciti: Ecco, io manderò contro di loro la spada, la fame, la peste, e li renderò come quegli orribili fichi che non si posson mangiare, tanto sono cattivi.

18 E li inseguirò con la spada, con la fame, con la peste; farò sì che saranno agitati fra tutti i regni della terra, e li abbandonerò alla esecrazione, allo stupore, alla derisione e al vituperio fra tutte le nazioni dove li caccerò;

19 perché non han dato ascolto alle mie parole, dice l’Eterno, che io ho mandate loro a dire dai miei servitori i profeti del continuo, fin dal mattino; ma essi non han dato ascolto, dice l’Eterno.

20 Ascoltate dunque la parola dell’Eterno, o voi tutti, che io ho mandati in cattività da Gerusalemme in Babilonia!

21 Così parla l’Eterno degli eserciti, l’Iddio d’Israele, riguardo ad Achab, figliuolo di Kolaia, e riguardo a Sedekia, figliuolo di Maaseia, che vi profetizzano la menzogna nel mio nome: Ecco, io do costoro in mano di Nebucadnetsar, re di Babilonia, ed ei li metterà a morte davanti agli occhi vostri;
