1 Dàwèi shuō , zhè jiù shì Yēhéhuá shén de diàn , wèi Yǐsèliè rén xiàn Fánjì de tán .

2 Dàwèi fēnfu jùjí zhù Yǐsèliè dì de waìbāngrén , cóng qízhōng paì shí jiàng zuò shítou , yào jiànzào shén de diàn .

3 Dàwèi yùbeì xǔduō tiĕ zuò mén shàng de dīng zǐ hé gōuzǐ , yòu yùbeì xǔduō tóng , duō dé wúfǎ kĕ chēng .

4 Yòu yùbeì wú shǔ de xiāng bǎi mù , yīnwei Xīdùn rén hé Tuīluó rén gĕi Dàwèi yùn le xǔduō xiāng bǎi mù lái .

5 Dàwèi shuō , wǒ érzi Suǒluómén hái nián yòu jiāonèn , yào wèi Yēhéhuá jiànzào de diàn yǔ bìxū gāo dà huīhuáng , shǐ míng yù róngyào chuán biàn wàn guó . suǒyǐ wǒ yào wèi diàn yùbeì cái liào . yúshì , Dàwèi zaì wèi sǐ zhī xiān yùbeì de cái liào shén duō .

6 Dàwèi zhào le tā érzi Suǒluómén lái , zhǔfu tā gĕi Yēhéhuá Yǐsèliè de shén jiànzào diàn yǔ ,

7 Duì Suǒluómén shuō , wǒ ér a , wǒ xīnli bĕn xiǎng wèi Yēhéhuá wǒ shén de míng jiànzào diàn yǔ ,

8 Zhǐshì Yēhéhuá de huà líndào wǒ shuō , nǐ liú le duō rén de xuè , dá le duō cì dà zhàng , nǐ bùkĕ wèi wǒde míng jiànzào diàn yǔ , yīnwei nǐ zaì wǒ yǎnqián shǐ duō rén de xuè liú zaì dì shàng .

9 Nǐ yào shēng yī gè érzi , tā bì zuò taìpíng de rén . wǒ bì shǐ tā ānjìng , bù beì sìwéi de chóudí rǎoluàn . tāde míng yào jiào Suǒluómén ( jiù shì taìpíng de yìsi ) . tā zaì wèi de rìzi , wǒ bì shǐ Yǐsèliè rén píngān kāng taì .

10 Tā bì wèi wǒde míng jiànzào diàn yǔ . tā yào zuò wǒde zǐ . wǒ yào zuò tāde fù . tā zuò Yǐsèliè wáng . wǒ bìjiāndéng tāde guó wèi , zhídào yǒngyuǎn .

11 Wǒ ér a , xiànjīn yuàn Yēhéhuá yǔ nǐ tóng zaì , shǐ nǐ hēng tōng , zhào tā zhǐ zhe nǐ shuō de huà , jiànzào Yēhéhuá nǐ shén de diàn .

12 Dàn yuàn Yēhéhuá cì nǐ cōngming zhìhuì , hǎo zhìlǐ Yǐsèliè guó , zūnxíng Yēhéhuá nǐ shén de lǜfǎ .

13 Nǐ ruò jǐn shǒu zūnxíng Yēhéhuá jiè Móxī fēnfu Yǐsèliè de lǜ lì diǎnzhāng , jiù dé hēng tōng . nǐ dāng gāngqiáng zhuàng dǎn , búyào jùpà , yĕ búyào jīng huáng .

14 Wǒ zaì kùn nán zhī zhōng wéi Yēhéhuá de diàn yùbeì le jīnzi shí wàn tā lián dé , yínzi yī bǎi wàn tā lián dé , tóng hé tiĕ duō dé wúfǎ kĕ chēng . wǒ yĕ yùbeì le mùtou , shítou , nǐ hái kĕyǐ zēngtiān .

15 Nǐ yǒu xǔduō jiàngrén , jiù shì shí jiàng , mùjiang , hé yīqiè néng zuò gèyàng gōng de qiǎo jiàng ,

16 > Bìng yǒu wú shù de jīn yín tóng tiĕ . nǐ dāng qǐlai bàn shì , yuàn Yēhéhuá yǔ nǐ tóng zaì .

17 Dàwèi yòu fēnfu Yǐsèliè de zhòng shǒulǐng bāngzhu tā érzi Suǒluómén , shuō ,

18 Yēhéhuá nǐmen de shén bú shì yǔ nǐmen tóng zaì ma . bú shì jiào nǐmen sìwéi dōu píngān ma . yīn tā yǐ jiāng zhè dì de jūmín jiāo zaì wǒ shǒu zhōng , zhè dì jiù zaì Yēhéhuá yǔ tā bǎixìng miànqián zhìfú le .

19 Xiànzaì nǐmen yīngdāng lìdéng xīnyì , xúnqiú Yēhéhuá nǐmen de shén . yĕ dāng qǐlai jiànzào Yēhéhuá shén de shèng suǒ , hǎo jiāng Yēhéhuá de yuē guì hé gōng fèng shén de shèng qìmǐn dōu bān jìn wèi Yēhéhuá míng jiànzào de diàn lǐ .

Chapter 22

David's preparations for the temple. (1-5) David's instructions to Solomon. (6-16) The prices commanded to assist. (17-19)

Verses 1-5 On occasion of the terrible judgment inflicted on Israel for the sin of David, God pointed out the place where he would have the temple built; upon which, David was excited to make preparations for the great work. David must not build, but he would do all he could; he prepared abundantly before his death. What our hands find to do for God, and our souls, and those round us, let us do it with all our might, before our death; for after death there is no device nor working. And when the Lord refuses to employ us in those services which we desired, we must not be discouraged or idle, but do what we can, though in a humbler sphere.

Verses 6-16 David gives Solomon the reason why he should build the temple. Because God named him. Nothing is more powerful to engage us in any service for God, than to know that we are appointed thereto. Because he would have leisure and opportunity to do it. He should have peace and quietness. Where God gives rest, he expects work. Because God had promised to establish his kingdom. God's gracious promises should quicken and strengthen our religious service. David delivered to Solomon an account of the vast preparations he had made for this building; not from pride and vain-glory, but to encourage Solomon to engage cheerfully in the great work. He must not think, by building the temple, to purchase a dispensation to sin; on the contrary, his doing that would not be accepted, if he did not take heed to fulfil the statutes of the Lord. In our spiritual work, as well as in our spiritual warfare, we have need of courage and resolution.

Verses 17-19 Whatever is done towards rendering the word of God generally known and attended to, is like bringing a stone, or an ingot of gold, towards erecting the temple. This should encourage us when we grieve that we do not see more fruit of our labours; much good may appear after our death, which we never thought of. Let us not then be weary of well doing. The work is in the hands of the Prince of peace. As he, the Author and Finisher of the work, is pleased to employ us as his instruments, let us arise and be doing, encouraging and helping one another; working by his rule, after his example, in dependence on his grace, assured that he will be with us, and that our labour shall not be in vain in the Lord.
