1And he began to speak unto thembyparables.A certain manplanted a vineyard, andset an hedge about it, anddigged a place for the winefat, andbuilt a tower, andletitout to husbandmen, and went into a far country .2And at the season he sentto the husbandmen a servant, that he might receivefrom the husbandmenof the fruit of the vineyard.3And they caught him, and beathim, and sent him awayempty.4Andagain he sentuntothemanotherservant; and at him they cast stones , and wounded him in the head , and sent him away shamefully handled .5Andagain he sentanother; and him they killed , andmanyothers ; beating some , and killing some .6Havingyetthereforeoneson,hiswellbeloved, he senthimalsolastuntothem, saying , They will reverencemyson.7Butthosehusbandmensaidamongthemselves,Thisis the heir;come , let us killhim, and the inheritance shall beours.8And they tookhim, and killed him, andcast him out of the vineyard.9Whatshalltherefore the lord of the vineyarddo ? he will comeanddestroy the husbandmen, and will give the vineyard unto others.10And have yenotreadthisscripture; The stonewhich the buildersrejectedisbecome the head of the corner:11Thiswas the Lord'sdoing , and it ismarvellousinoureyes?12And they sought to lay hold on him, butfeared the people:for they knewthat he had spoken the parableagainstthem:and they lefthim, and went their way .
13And they senduntohimcertain of the Phariseesand of the Herodians, tocatchhim in his words.14And when they were come , they say unto him,Master, we knowthat thou arttrue, andcarestfor no man:for thou regardestnot the personofmen, butteachest the way of Godintruth: Is it lawful to givetribute to Caesar,ornot?15
Shall we give , or shall we notgive ? But he, knowingtheirhypocrisy, said unto them,Why tempt yeme?bringme a penny, athat I may see it.16And they brought it. And he saith unto them,Whose is thisimageandsuperscription? And they said unto him,Caesar's.17AndJesusansweringsaid unto them,Render to Caesar the things that areCaesar's,and to God the things that areGod's.And they marvelledathim.18Thencomeuntohim the Sadducees, whichsay there isnoresurrection;and they askedhim, saying ,
19Master,Moseswrote unto us,Ifaman'sbrotherdie , andleave his wife behind him, andleavenochildren, thathisbrother should takehiswife, and raise upseed unto hisbrother.20
Now there weresevenbrethren:and the firsttook a wife,anddyingleftnoseed.21And the secondtookher, anddied , neitherlefthe any seed:and the thirdlikewise.22And the sevenhadher, andleftnoseed:last of all the womandiedalso.23In the resurrectiontherefore, when they shall rise , whosewife shall she be of them?for the sevenhadher to wife.24AndJesusansweringsaid unto them, Do yenotthereforeerr , because ye knownot the scriptures, neither the power of God?25Forwhen they shall risefrom the dead, they neithermarry , nor are given in marriage ; butareas the angelswhich are inheaven.26And as touching the dead, that they rise : have yenotreadin the book of Moses, howin the bushGodspake unto him, saying , I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?27He isnot the God of the dead, but the God of the living : yethereforedogreatlyerr .28Andone of the scribescame , and having heardthem reasoning together , and perceivingthat he had answeredthemwell, askedhim,Whichis the firstcommandment of all?29AndJesusansweredhim,Thefirst of all the commandments is, Hear , O Israel; The LordourGodisoneLord:30And thou shalt love the LordthyGodwithallthyheart, andwithallthysoul, andwithallthymind, andwithallthystrength:this is the firstcommandment.31And the second is like, namely this , Thou shalt lovethyneighbourasthyself. There isnoneothercommandmentgreater than these.32And the scribesaid unto him,Well,Master, thou hast saidthetruth:for there isoneGod;and there isnoneotherbuthe:33And to lovehimwithall the heart, andwithall the understanding, andwithall the soul, andwithall the strength, and to love his neighbourashimself, ismore than all whole burnt offeringsandsacrifices.34And when Jesussawthatheanswereddiscreetly, he said unto him,Thou artnotfarfrom the kingdom of God.And no man after thatdurstaskhim any question.
35AndJesusanswered and said , while he taughtin the temple,Howsay the scribesthatChristis the Son of David?36ForDavidhimselfsaidby the HolyGhost, The LORDsaid to myLord, Sit thouonmy right hand, tillImakethineenemiesthyfootstool .37DavidthereforehimselfcallethhimLord;andwhence is he then hisson? And the commonpeopleheardhimgladly.38And he said unto theminhisdoctrine,Bewareof the scribes, whichlove to goin long clothing, and love salutationsin the marketplaces,39And the chief seatsin the synagogues, and the uppermost roomsatfeasts:40Which devourwidows'houses, and for a pretencemakelongprayers : these shall receivegreaterdamnation.41AndJesussat over against the treasury, and beheldhow the peoplecastmoneybinto the treasury:andmany that were rich cast inmuch.42And there came a certainpoorwidow, and she threw intwomites,c which make a farthing.43And he called unto him hisdisciples, and saith unto them,Verily I say unto you,Thatthispoorwidow hath castmorein , than all they which have castinto the treasury:44Forall they did cast inoftheirabundance ; butsheofherwant did cast inallthat she had , even allherliving.
