4
Andconsultedthat they might takeJesus by subtilty, andkill him.
5
But they said, Noton the feast day, lest there be an uproaramong the people.
6
Now when JesuswasinBethany,in the house of Simon the leper,
7
There came unto him a womanhaving an alabaster box of very preciousointment, and poured itonhishead, as he sat at meat.
8
But when hisdisciplessaw it, they had indignation, saying, To what purpose is thiswaste?
9
Forthisointmentmight have been sold for much, andgiven to the poor.
10
WhenJesusunderstood it, he said unto them,Why trouble ye* the woman?for she hath wrought a goodworkuponme.
11
For ye have the pooralwayswithyou;butme ye havenotalways.
12
For in thatshe* hath pouredthisointmentonmybody, she did it formyburial.
13
Verily I say unto you,Wheresoever*thisgospel shall be preachedin the wholeworld, there shall also this, that this woman* hath done, be toldfor a memorial of her.
14
Thenone of the twelve, calledJudasIscariot, wentunto the chief priests,
15
And said unto them, What will yegiveme, and I will deliverhim unto you?And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver.
16
Andfrom that time he soughtopportunitytobetrayhim.
17
Now the first day of the feast of unleavened bread the disciplescame to Jesus, saying unto him,Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the passover?
18
And he said, Gointo the cityto such a man, andsay unto him, The Mastersaith, Mytimeis at hand; I will keep the passoverat thy housewithmydisciples.
19
And the disciplesdidasJesus had appointedthem;and they made ready the passover.
20
Now when the even was come, he sat downwith the twelve.
21
And as they did eat, he said, Verily I say unto you, thatoneofyou shall betrayme.
22
And they were exceedingsorrowful, and began every one of them to say unto him,Lord, isitI?
23
And he answered and said, He that dippeth his handwithmein the dish, the same shall betrayme.
24

25
ThenJudas, whichbetrayedhim, answered and said, Master, isitI? He said unto him,Thou hast said.
26
And as they were eating, Jesustookbread, andblessed it, and brake it, andgave it to the disciples, andsaid, Take, eat; thisismybody.
27
And he took the cup,and gave thanks, and gave it to them,saying, Drink yeallofit;
28
Forthisismyblood of the newtestament, which is shedformanyfor the remission of sins.
29
But I say unto you, I willnot*drinkhenceforth*ofthisfruit of the vine,untilthatdaywhen I drinkitnewwithyouinmyFather'skingdom.
30
And when they had sung an hymn,[a] they went outinto the mount of Olives.
31
ThensaithJesus unto them,Allye shall be offendedbecause of me*thisnight:for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.
32
ButafterI am risen again, I will go beforeyouintoGalilee.
33
Peteransweredandsaid unto him,Thoughall men shall be offended[b]because of thee, yet will Inever be offended.
34
Jesussaid unto him,Verily I say unto thee,Thatthis*night, before the cockcrow, thou shalt denymethrice.
35
Petersaid unto him,ThoughIshoulddiewiththee, yet will Inotdenythee.Likewisealsosaidall the disciples.
36
ThencomethJesuswiththemunto a placecalledGethsemane,andsaith unto the disciples,Sit yehere,whileIgo and prayyonder.
37
And he took with himPeterand the twosons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowfuland very heavy.
38
Then saith he unto them,Mysoulis exceeding sorrowful, even untodeath: tarry yehere, andwatchwithme.
39
And he went a littlefurther, and fellonhisface, andprayed, saying, O myFather,if it bepossible, letthiscuppassfromme:neverthelessnotasIwill, butasthou wilt.
40
And he comethunto the disciples, andfindeththemasleep, andsaith unto Peter,What, could yenotwatchwithmeonehour?
41
Watchandpray, that ye enternotintotemptation: the spiritindeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
42
He went awayagainthe second time, and prayed, saying, O myFather, ifthiscupmaynot pass awayfromme, except I drinkit, thywill be done.
43
And he came and foundthemasleepagain:fortheireyeswereheavy.
44
And he leftthem, and went awayagain, and prayed* the third time, saying the samewords.
45
Then cometh hetohisdisciples, andsaith unto them,Sleep onnow, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayedinto the hands of sinners.
46
Rise, let us be going: behold, he is at hand that doth betrayme.
47
Andwhileheyetspake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, andwithhim a greatmultitudewithswordsandstaves, from the chief priestsandelders of the people.
48
Now he that betrayedhimgavethem a sign, saying, WhomsoeverI shall kiss, that sameishe:holdhimfast.
49
Andforthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master;andkissedhim.
50
AndJesussaid unto him,Friend, whereforeart thou come? Then came they, and laidhandsonJesus, andtookhim.
51
And,behold, one of them which were withJesus stretched out his hand, and drewhissword, andstruck a servant of the high priest's, and smote offhisear.
52
ThensaidJesus unto him,Put up againthyswordintohisplace:for all they that take the sword shall perishwith the sword.
53
Thinkestthouthat I cannot*nowpray to myFather, and he shall presently givememorethantwelvelegions of angels?
54
But howthen shall the scriptures be fulfilled, thatthus it mustbe?
55
In that samehoursaidJesus to the multitudes,Are ye come outasagainst a thiefwithswordsandstaves for to takeme? I satdaily*withyouteachingin the temple, and ye laidnohold on me.
56
Butallthis was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Thenall the disciplesforsookhim, and fled.
57
And they that had laid hold on Jesus led him awaytoCaiaphas the high priest, where the scribesand the elders were assembled.
58
ButPeterfollowedhim afar off*unto the high priest'spalace, andwentin, and satwith the servants, to see the end.
59
Now the chief priests,andelders,andall the council,sought false witnessagainstJesus,toputhim to death;
60
Butfoundnone:yea, though many false witnessescame, yet found theynone*. At the lastcametwo false witnesses,
61
And said, This fellow said, I am able to destroy the temple of God,and to builditinthreedays.
62
And the high priestarose, and said unto him, Answerest thounothing?what is it which these witness againstthee?
63
ButJesus held his peace. And the high priestanswered and said unto him, I adjuretheeby the livingGod,that thou telluswhetherthoube the Christ, the Son of God.
64
Jesussaith unto him,Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you,Hereaftershall ye see the Son of mansittingon the right hand of power, andcomingin the clouds of heaven.
