23 E moltiplicasti i loro figliuoli come le stelle del cielo, e li introducesti nel paese in cui avevi detto ai padri loro che li faresti entrare per possederlo.

Nehemiah 9:23

Their children also multipliedst thou as the stars of heaven,
&c.] Fulfilling the promise made to Abraham, ( Genesis 15:5 ) ( 22:17 ) ( Deuteronomy 1:10 ) their number when they came out of Egypt, and just before they entered into the land of Canaan, being upwards of 600,000 men, besides women and children, ( Exodus 12:37 ) ( Numbers 11:21 ) ( 26:51 )

and broughtest them into the land, concerning which thou hadst
promised to their fathers, that they should go in to possess it;
the land of Canaan, promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and their seed, into which the Lord brought them by Joshua; he was the instrument, but the thing was of God.

21 Per quarant’anni li sostentasti nel deserto, e non mancò loro nulla; le loro vesti non si logorarono e i loro piedi non si gonfiarono.

22 E desti loro regni e popoli, e li spartisti fra loro per contrade; ed essi possedettero il paese di Sihon, cioè il paese del re di Heshbon, e il paese di Og re di Bashan.

23 E moltiplicasti i loro figliuoli come le stelle del cielo, e li introducesti nel paese in cui avevi detto ai padri loro che li faresti entrare per possederlo.

24 E i loro figliuoli v’entrarono e presero possesso del paese; tu umiliasti dinanzi a loro i Cananei che abitavano il paese, e li desti nelle loro mani coi loro re e coi popoli del paese, perché li trattassero come loro piaceva.

25 Ed essi s’impadronirono di città fortificate e d’una terra fertile, e possedettero case piene d’ogni bene, cisterne bell’e scavate, vigne, uliveti, alberi fruttiferi in abbondanza, e mangiarono e si saziarono e ingrassarono e vissero in delizie, per la tua gran bontà.
