1Butof the timesand the seasons,brethren, ye havenoneed that I write unto you.2Foryourselvesknowperfectlythat the day of the Lordsocomethas a thiefin the night.3Forwhen they shall say , Peaceandsafety;thensuddendestruction cometh uponthem,astravailupon a woman with child ; and they shallnotescape .
4Butye,brethren,arenotindarkness,that that day should overtakeyouas a thief.5Yeareall the children of light,and the children of the day: we arenot of the night,nor of darkness.6Thereforeletusnotsleep , asdoothers;but let us watchand be sober .
7For they that sleepsleep in the night;and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.8Butletus, who are of the day, be sober , putting on the breastplate of faithandlove;and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.9ForGodhathnotappointedustowrath,buttoobtainsalvationbyourLordJesusChrist,10Whodiedforus,that,whether we wakeorsleep , we should livetogetherwithhim.11Whereforecomforta yourselves together,andedifyoneanother,even as also ye do .
12And we beseechyou,brethren, to know them whichlabouramongyou,and are overyouin the Lord,andadmonishyou;13And to esteemthemveryhighlyinlovefortheir work's sake. And be at peaceamongyourselves.14Now we exhortbyou,brethren,warn them that are unruly,comfort the feebleminded,support the weak, be patienttowardall men.
15See that nonerenderevilforevil unto any man; buteverfollow that which is good,bothamongyourselves,andtoall men.
16Rejoiceevermore.17Pray without ceasing.18In every thing give thanks : forthis is the will of GodinChristJesusconcerningyou.19Quenchnot the Spirit.20Despisenotprophesyings.21Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.22Abstainfromallappearance of evil.23And the veryGod of peacesanctifyyouwholly;and I pray God yourwholespiritandsoulandbody be preservedblamelessunto the coming of ourLordJesusChrist.24Faithful is he that callethyou,whoalso will do it.
25Brethren,prayforus.26Greetall the brethrenwith an holykiss.27
I chargecyou by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holybrethren.28
