1 Guó mín lì Yuēxīyà de érzi yuē hā sī zaì Yēlùsǎlĕng jiēxù tā fù zuò wáng .

2 Yuē hā sī dēng jī de shíhou nián èr shí sān suì , zaì Yēlùsǎlĕng zuò wáng sān gè yuè .

3 Āijí wáng zaì Yēlùsǎlĕng feì le tā , yòu fá Yóudà guó yínzi yī bǎi tā lián dé , jīnzi yī tā lián dé .

4 Āijí wáng ní gē lì yuē hā sī de gēge Yǐlìyǎ jìng zuò Yóudà hé Yēlùsǎlĕng de wáng , gǎi míng jiào yuē yǎ jìng , yòu jiāng yuē hā sī daì dào Āijí qù le .

5 Yuē yǎ jìng dēng jī de shíhou nián èr shí wǔ suì , zaì Yēlùsǎlĕng zuò wáng shí yī nián , xíng Yēhéhuá tā shén yǎn zhōng kàn wéi è de shì .

6 Bābǐlún wáng Níbùjiǎnísǎ shàng lái gōngjī tā , yòng tóng liàn suǒ zhe tā , yào jiāng tā daì dào Bābǐlún qù .

7 Ní bù Jiǎní sǎ yòu jiāng Yēhéhuá diàn lǐ de qìmǐn daì dào Bābǐlún , fàng zaì tā shén de miào lǐ ( huò zuò zìjǐ de gōng lǐ ) .

8 Yuē yǎ jìng qíyú de shì hé tā suǒ xíng kĕ zēng de shì , bìng tā yīqiè de xíngwéi , dōu xiĕ zaì Yǐsèliè hé Yóudà liè wáng jì shàng . tā érzi yuē Yǎjīn jiēxù tā zuò wáng .

9 Yuē Yǎjīn dēng jī de shíhou nián bā suì ( liè wáng xià èr shí sì zhāng bā jié zuò shí bā suì ) , zaì Yēlùsǎlĕng zuò wáng sān gè yuè líng shí tiān , xíng Yēhéhuá yǎn zhōng kàn wèi è de shì .

10 Guō le yī nián , Níbùjiǎnísǎ chāiqiǎn rén jiāng yuē Yǎjīn hé Yēhéhuá diàn lǐ gèyàng bǎoguì de qìmǐn daì dào Bābǐlún , jiù lì yuē Yǎjīn de shūshu ( yuánwén zuò xiōng ) Xīdǐjiā , zuò Yóudà hé Yēlùsǎlĕng de wáng .

11 Xī dǐ jiā dēng jī de shíhou nián èr shí yī suì , zaì Yēlùsǎlĕng zuò wáng shí yī nián ,

12 Xíng Yēhéhuá tā shén yǎn zhōng kàn wéi è de shì . xiānzhī Yēlìmǐ yǐ Yēhéhuá de huà quàn tā , tā réng bú zaì Yēlìmǐ miànqián zìbēi .

13 Ní bù Jiǎní sǎ céng shǐ tā zhǐ zhe shén qǐshì , tā què beìpàn , qiáng xiàng yìng xīn , bù guī fú Yēhéhuá Yǐsèliè de shén .

14 Zhòng Jìsīzhǎng hé bǎixìng yĕ dàdà fàn zuì , xiàofǎ waìbāngrén yīqiè kĕ zēng de shì , wūhuì Yēhéhuá zaì Yēlùsǎlĕng fēnbié wéi shèng de diàn .

15 Yēhéhuá tāmen lièzǔ de shén yīnwei aìxī zìjǐ de mín hé tāde jū suǒ , cóng zǎo qǐlai chāiqiǎn shǐzhĕ qù jǐngjiè tāmen .

16 Tāmen què xī xiào shén de shǐzhĕ , miǎoshì tāde yányǔ , jīqiào tāde xiānzhī , yǐzhì Yēhéhuá de fèn nù xiàng tāde bǎixìng fā zuò , wúfǎ kĕ jiù .

17 Suǒyǐ , Yēhéhuá shǐ Jiālèdǐ rén de wáng lái gōngjī tāmen , zaì tāmen shèng diàn lǐ yòng dāo shā le tāmende zhuàng dīng , bù liánxù tāmende shǎo nán chǔnǚ , lǎo rén bái sǒu . Yēhéhuá jiāng tāmen dōu jiāo zaì Jiālèdǐ wáng shǒu lǐ .

18 Jiālèdǐ wáng jiāng shén diàn lǐ de dà xiǎo qìmǐn yǔ Yēhéhuá diàn lǐ de cáibǎo , bìng wáng hé zhòng shǒulǐng de cáibǎo , dōu daì dào Bābǐlún qù le .

19 Jiālèdǐ rén fùnshāo shén de diàn , chāihuǐ Yēlùsǎlĕng de chéngqiáng , yòng huǒshào le chéng lǐ de gōngdiàn , huǐhuaì le chéng lǐ bǎoguì de qìmǐn .

20 Fán tuōlí dāo jiàn de , Jiālèdǐ wáng dōu lǔ dào Bābǐlún qù , zuò tā hé tā zǐsūn de pú bì , zhídào Bōsī guó xīngqǐ lái .

21 Zhè jiù yìngyàn Yēhéhuá jiè Yēlìmǐ kǒu suǒ shuō de huà , dì xiǎngshòu ānxī . yīnwei dì tǔ huāngliáng biàn shǒu ānxī , zhí mǎn le qī shí nián .

22 Bōsī wáng Gǔliè yuán nián , Yēhéhuá wéi yào yìngyàn jiè Yēlìmǐ kǒu suǒ shuō de huà , jiù jīdòng Bōsī wáng sāi lǔ shì de xīn , shǐ tā xià zhào tōng gào quán guó , shuō ,

23 Bōsī wáng Gǔliè rúcǐ shuō , Yēhéhuá tiān shàng de shén yǐ jiāng tiān xià wàn guó cìgĕi wǒ , yòu zhǔfu wǒ zaì Yóudà de Yēlùsǎlĕng wèi tā jiànzào diàn yǔ . nǐmen zhōngjiān fán zuò tā zǐmín de , kĕyǐ shàng qù , yuàn Yēhéhuá tāde shén yǔ tā tóng zaì .

Chapter 36

The destruction of Jerusalem. (1-21) The proclamation of Cyrus. (22,23)

Verses 1-21 The ruin of Judah and Jerusalem came on by degrees. The methods God takes to call back sinners by his word, by ministers, by conscience, by providences, are all instances of his compassion toward them, and his unwillingness that any should perish. See here what woful havoc sin makes, and, as we value the comfort and continuance of our earthly blessings, let us keep that worm from the root of them. They had many times ploughed and sowed their land in the seventh year, when it should have rested, and now it lay unploughed and unsown for ten times seven years. God will be no loser in his glory at last, by the disobedience of men. If they refused to let the land rest, God would make it rest. What place, O God, shall thy justice spare, if Jerusalem has perished? If that delight of thine were cut off for wickedness, let us not be high-minded, but fear.

Verses 22-23 God had promised the restoring of the captives, and the rebuilding of Jerusalem, at the end of seventy years; and that time to favour Zion, that set time, came at last. Though God's church be cast down, it is not cast off; though his people be corrected, they are not abandoned; though thrown into the furnace, they are not lost there, nor left there any longer than till the dross be separated. Though God contend long, he will not contend always. Before we close the books of the Chronicles, which contain a faithful register of events, think what desolation sin introduced into the world, nay, even into the church of God. Let us tremble at what is here recorded, while in the character of some few gracious souls, we discover that the Lord left not himself without witness. And when we have looked at this faithful portrait of man by nature, let us contrast with it that same nature, when recovered by Almighty grace, through the justifying and soul-adorning righteousness of Christ our Saviour.

This chapter records the reigns of the four kings of Judah, and the captivity of the Jews, the short reign of Jehoahaz, deposed by the king of Egypt, and his brother Eliakim or Jehoiakim set up in his room, 2Ch 36:1-4, the reign of Jehoiakim, who was bound and carried away by Nebuchadnezzar, 2Ch 36:5-8, the reign of Jehoiachin his son, who also in a short time was taken and carried to Babylon by the same king, 2Ch 36:9,10, the reign of Zedekiah, who also rebelled against the king of Babylon, and he and his people were taken and carried captive by him for his sins, which are here mentioned, according to the prophecy of Jeremiah, and where the Jews continued until the reign of the kingdom of Persia, 2Ch 36:11-21 and the chapter is concluded with the proclamation of Cyrus king of Persia, and with which also the next book begins, 2Ch 36:22,23.
