Sāmǔĕrjìxià 8

1 Cǐ hòu , Dàwèi gōngdǎ Fēilìshì rén , bǎ tāmen zhì fù , cóng tāmen shǒu xià duó qǔ le jīngchéng de quánbǐng ( yuánwén zuò mǔ chéng de jiaóhuán ) .

2 Yòu gōngdǎ Móyē rén , shǐ tāmen tǎng wò zaì dì shàng , yòng shéng liáng yī liáng , liáng èr shéng de shā le , liáng yī shéng de cún liú . Móyē rén jiù guī fù Dàwèi , gĕi tā jìn gòng .

3 Suǒ bā wángLìhé de érzi Hādà dǐ xiè wǎng dà hé qù , yào duó huí tāde guó quán . Dàwèi jiù gōngdǎ tā ,

4 Qín ná le tāde mǎ bīng yī qiā qī bǎi , bù bīng èr wàn , jiāng là zhàn chē de mǎ kǎn duàn tí jīn , dàn liú xià yī bǎi liàng chē de mǎ .

5 Dàmǎsè de Yàlán rén lái bāngzhu suǒ bā wáng Hādà dǐ xiè , Dàwèi jiù shā le Yàlán rén èr wàn èr qiā .

6 Yúshì Dàwèi zaì Dàmǎsè de Yàlán dì shèlì fáng yíng , Yàlán rén jiù guī fú tā , gĕi tā jìn gòng . Dàwèi wúlùn wǎng nǎli qù , Yēhéhuá dōu shǐ tā déshèng .

7 Tā duó le Hādà dǐ xiè chénpú suǒ ná de jīn dùnpái , daì dào Yēlùsǎlĕng .

8 Dàwèi wáng yòu cóngshǔ Hādà dǐ xiè de bǐ tā hé bǐ luó tā chéng zhōng duó qǔ le xǔduō de tóng .

9 Hā mǎ wáng tuó yǐ tīngjian Dàwèi shā baì Hādà dǐ xiè de quán jūn ,

10 Jiù dǎfa tā érzi Yuēlán qù jiàn Dàwèi wáng , wèn tāde ān , wèi tā zhùfú , yīnwei tā shā baì le Hādà dǐ xiè , yuánlái tuó yǐ yǔ Hādà dǐ xiè chángcháng zhēng zhàn . Yuēlán daì le jīn yín tóng de qìmǐn lái ,

11 Dàwèi wáng jiāng zhèxie qìmǐn hé tā zhì fù gè guó suǒ dé lái de jīn yín dōu fēnbié wéi shèng , xiàn gĕi Yēhéhuá ,

12 Jiù shì cóng Yàlán , Móyē , yà mén , Fēilìshì , Yàmǎlì rén suǒ dé lái de , yǐjí cóng suǒ bā wángLìhé de érzi Hādà dǐ xiè suǒ luè zhī wù .

13 Dàwèi zaì yán gǔ jī shā le Yàlán ( huò zuò Yǐdōng , jiàn shīpiān liù shí piān shī tí ) yī wàn bā qiā rén huí lái , jiù dé le dà míng .

14 Yòu zaì Yǐdōng quán dì shèlì fáng yíng , Yǐdōng rén jiù dōu guī fù Dàwèi . Dàwèi wúlùn wǎng nǎli qù , Yēhéhuá dōu shǐ tā déshèng .

15 Dàwèi zuò Yǐsèliè zhòngrén de wáng , yòu xiàng zhòng mín bǐng gōng xíng yì .

16 Xǐ lǔ yǎ de érzi Yuēyē zuò yuán shuaì . yà Xīlǜ de érzi Yuēshāfǎ zuò shǐ guān .

17 Yàxītū de érzi Sādū hé yà bǐ yà tāde érzi yà xī mǐ lè zuò Jìsīzhǎng . Xīláiyǎ zuò shū jì .

18 Yéhéyédà de érzi Bǐnáyǎ Tǒng xiá jī lì tí rén hé Bǐlì tí rén . Dàwèi de zhòng zǐ dōu zuò lǐng xiù .

Sāmǔĕrjìxià 8 Commentary

Chapter 8

David subdues the Philistines, the Moabites, and the Syrians. (1-8) The spoil dedicated. (9-14) David's government and officers. (15-18)

1-8. David subdued the Philistines. They had long been troublesome to Israel. And after the long and frequent struggles the saints have with the powers of darkness, like Israel with the Philistines, the Son of David shall tread them all under foot, and make the saints more than conquerors. He smote the Moabites, and made them tributaries to Israel. Two parts he destroyed, the third part he spared. The line that was to keep alive, though it was but one, is ordered to be a full line. Let the line of mercy be stretched to the utmost. He smote the Syrians. In all these wars David was protected, for this in his psalms he often gives glory to God.

Verses 9-14 All the precious things David was master of, were dedicated things; they were designed for building the temple. ( 2 Samuel. 5:21 ) of gold he dedicated. Thus, in the conquest of a soul by the grace of the Son of David, what stands in opposition to God must be destroyed, every lust must be mortified and crucified, but what may glorify him must be dedicated; thus the property of it is altered. God employs his servants in various ways; some, as David, in spiritual battles; others, as Solomon, in spiritual buildings; and one prepares work for the other, that God may have the glory of all.

Verses 15-18 David neither did wrong, nor denied or delayed right to any. This speaks his close application to business; also his readiness to admit all addresses and appeals made to him. He had no respect of persons in judgment. Herein he was a type of Christ. To Him let us submit, his friendship let us seek, his service let us count our pleasure, diligently attending to the work he assigns to each of us. David made his sons chief rulers; but all believers, Christ's spiritual seed, are better preferred, for they are made kings and priests to our God, Re. 1:6 .
