What are the references to Abba in the Bible? God’s title of “Abba Father” is found referenced in the Bible three separate times, in the passages of Romans 8:15, Mark 14:36, and Galatians 4:6, which are all in the New Testament. Only two speakers mention these words in these passages: Jesus and the apostle Paul.

“Abba” is the defining term for father in the Aramaic language, spoken by Jesus and Paul as an informal term to describe their personal relationships with God. It is also a term of regard for bishops and elders within the Coptic, Syriac, and Ethiopian churches.
