Lièwángjìxià 6

1 Xiānzhī méntǔ duì Yǐlìshā shuō , kàn nǎ , wǒmen tóng nǐ suǒ zhù de dìfang guòyú zhǎi xiǎo ,

2 Qiú nǐ róng wǒmen wǎng Yuēdànhé qù , gèrén cóng nàli qǔ yī gēn mù liào jiànzào fángwū jūzhù . tā shuō , nǐmen qù ba .

3 Yǒu yī rén shuō , qiú nǐ yǔ púrén tóng qù . huídá shuō , wǒ kĕyǐ qù .

4 Yúshì Yǐlìshā yǔ tāmen tóng qù . dào le Yuēdànhé , jiù kǎn fá shùmù .

5 Yǒu yī rén kǎn shù de shíhou , fǔ tóu diào zaì shuǐ lǐ , tā jiù hūjiào shuō , āi zāi . wǒ zhǔ a , zhè fǔzi shì jiè de .

6 Shén rén wèn shuō , diào zaì nǎli le . tā jiāng nà dìfang zhǐ gĕi Yǐlìshā kàn . Yǐlìshā kǎn le yī gēn mùtou , pāo zaì shuǐ lǐ , fǔ tóu jiù piāo shàng lái le .

7 Yǐlìshā shuō , ná qǐlai ba . nà rén jiù shēnshǒu ná qǐlai le .

8 Yàlán wáng yǔ Yǐsèliè rén zhēng zhàn , hé tāde chénpú shāngyì shuō , wǒ yào zaì mǒu chù mǒu chù ān yíng .

9 Shén rén dǎfa rén qù jiàn Yǐsèliè wáng , shuō , nǐ yào jǐnshèn , búyào cóng mǒu chù jīngguò , yīnwei Yàlán rén cóng nàli xià lái le .

10 Yǐsèliè wáng chāi rén qù kuītàn shén rén suǒ gàosu suǒ jǐngjiè tā qù de dìfang , jiù fángbeì wèi shòu qí haì , bù zhǐ yī liǎng cì .

11 Yàlán wáng yīn zhè shì xīnli jīng yí , zhào le chénpú lái , duì tāmen shuō , wǒmen zhèlǐ yǒu shuí bāngzhu Yǐsèliè wáng , nǐmen bù zhǐ gĕi wǒ ma .

12 Yǒu yī gè chénpú shuō , wǒ zhǔ , wǒ wáng . wú rén bāngzhu tā , zhǐyǒu Yǐsèliè zhōng de xiānzhī Yǐlìshā , jiāng wáng zaì wòfáng suǒ shuō de huà gàosu Yǐsèliè wáng le .

13 Wáng shuō , nǐmen qù tàn tā zaì nǎli , wǒ hǎo dǎfa rén qù zhuōná tā . yǒu rén gàosu wáng shuō , tā zaì Duōtān .

14 Wáng jiù dǎfa chē mǎ hé dà jūn wǎng nàli qù , yè jiān dào le , wéi kùn nà chéng .

15 Shén rén de púrén qīngzǎo qǐlai chū qù , kànjian chē mǎ jūn bīng wéi kùn le chéng . púrén duì shén rén shuō , āi zāi . wǒ zhǔ a , wǒmen zĕnyàng xíng cái hǎo ne .

16 Shén rén shuō , búyào jùpà . yǔ wǒmen tóng zaì de bǐ yǔ tāmen tóng zaì de gèng duō .

17 Yǐlìshā dǎogào shuō , Yēhéhuá a , qiú nǐ kāi zhè shàonián rén de yǎnmù , shǐ tā néng kànjian . Yēhéhuá kāi tāde yǎnmù , tā jiù kànjian mǎn shān yǒu huǒchē huǒ mǎ wéirǎo Yǐlìshā .

18 Dírén xià dào Yǐlìshā nàli , Yǐlìshā dǎogào Yēhéhuá shuō , qiú nǐ shǐ zhèxie rén de yǎnmù hūn mí . Yēhéhuá jiù zhào Yǐlìshā de huà , shǐ tāmende yǎnmù hūn mí .

19 Yǐlìshā duì tāmen shuō , zhè bú shì nà dào , yĕ bú shì nà chéng . nǐmen gēn wǒ qù , wǒ bì lǐng nǐmen dào suǒ xúnzhǎo de rén nàli . yúshì lǐng tāmen dào le sǎ Mǎlìyà .

20 Tāmen jìn le sǎ Mǎlìyà , Yǐlìshā dǎogào shuō , Yēhéhuá a , qiú nǐ kāi zhèxie rén de yǎnmù , shǐ tāmen néng kànjian . Yēhéhuá kāi tāmende yǎnmù , tāmen jiù kànjian le , búliào , shì zaì sǎ Mǎlìyà de chéng zhōng .

21 Yǐsèliè wáng jiàn le tāmen , jiù wèn Yǐlìshā shuō , wǒ fù a , wǒ kĕyǐ jī shā tāmen ma .

22 Huídá shuō , bùkĕ jī shā tāmen . jiù shì nǐ yòng dāo yòng gōng lǔ lái de , qǐ kĕ jī shā tāmen ma ( huò zuò yĕ bùkĕ jī shā , hékuàng zhèxie rén ne ) . dāng zaì tāmen miànqián shè bǎi yǐnshí , shǐ tāmen chī hē huí dào tāmende zhǔrén nàli .

23 Wáng jiù wèi tāmen yùbeì le xǔduō shíwù . tāmen chī hē wán le , dǎfa tāmen huí dào tāmen zhǔrén nàli . cóngcǐ , Yàlán jūn bú zaì fàn Yǐsèliè jìng le .

24 Cǐ hòu , Yàlán wáng biàn Hādá jùjí tāde quán jūn , shàng lái wéi kùn sǎ Mǎlìyà .

25 YúShìsǎ Mǎlìyà beì wéi kùn , yǒu jīhuāng , shènzhì yī gè lü tóu zhí yín bā shí Shĕkèlè , èr shēng gēzi fèn zhí yín wǔ Shĕkèlè .

26 Yī rì , Yǐsèliè wáng zaì chéng shàng jīngguò , yǒu yī gè fùrén xiàng tā hūjiào shuō , wǒ zhǔ , wǒ wáng a . qiú nǐ bāngzhu .

27 Wáng shuō , Yēhéhuá bú bāngzhu nǐ , wǒ cóng héchu bāngzhu nǐ . shì cóng hécháng , shì cóng jiǔ £¿ £¿ ne .

28 Wáng wèn fùrén shuō , nǐ yǒu shénme kǔ chù . tā huídá shuō , zhè fùrén duì wǒ shuō , jiāng nǐde érzi qǔ lái , wǒmen jīnrì kĕyǐ chī , míngrì kĕyǐ chī wǒde érzi .

29 Wǒmen jiù zhǔ le wǒde érzi chī le . cì rì wǒ duì tā shuō , yào jiāng nǐde érzi qǔ lái , wǒmen kĕyǐ chī . tā què jiāng tāde érzi cáng qǐlai le .

30 Wáng tīngjian fùrén de huà , jiù sī liè yīfu . ( wáng zaì chéng shàng jīngguò ) bǎixìng kànjian wáng tiē shēn chuān zhe má yǐ .

31 Wáng shuō , wǒ jīnrì ruò róng shā fǎ de érzi Yǐlìshā de tóu réng zaì tā xiàng shàng , yuàn shén chóngchóng dì jiàng fá yǔ wǒ .

32 Nàshí , Yǐlìshā zhēng zuò zaì jiā zhōng , zhǎnglǎo yĕ yǔ tā tóng zuò . wáng dǎfa yī gè cìhou tāde rén qù . tā hái méiyǒu dào , Yǐlìshā duì zhǎnglǎo shuō , nǐmen kàn zhè xiōngshǒu zhī zǐ , dǎfa rén lái zhǎn wǒde tóu . nǐmen kàn zhe shǐzhĕ lái dào , jiù guān shàng mén , yòng mén jiāng tā tuī chū qù . zaì tā hòutou bú shì yǒu tā zhǔrén jiǎobù de xiǎngshēng ma

33 Zhēng shuōhuà de shíhou , shǐzhĕ lái dào , wáng yĕ dào le , shuō , zhè zāihuò shì cóng Yēhéhuá nàli lái de , wǒ hébì zaì yǎngwàng Yēhéhuá ne .

Lièwángjìxià 6 Commentary

Chapter 6

The sons of the prophets enlarge their habitations, Iron made to swim. (1-7) Elisha discloses the counsels of the Syrians. (8-12) Syrians sent to seize Elisha. (13-23) Samaria besieged, A famine, The king sends to slay Elisha. (24-33)

Verses 1-7 There is that pleasantness in the converse of servants of God, which can make those who listen to them forget the pain and the weariness of labour. Even the sons of the prophets must not be unwilling to labour. Let no man think an honest employment a burden or a disgrace. And labour of the head, is as hard, and very often harder, than labour with the hands. We ought to be careful of that which is borrowed, as of our own, because we must do as we would be done by. This man was so respecting the axe-head. And to those who have an honest mind, the sorest grievance of poverty is, not so much their own want and disgrace, as being rendered unable to pay just debts. But the Lord cares for his people in their smallest concerns. And God's grace can thus raise the stony iron heart, which is sunk into the mud of this world, and raise up affections, naturally earthly.

Verses 8-12 The king of Israel regarded the warnings Elisha gave him, of danger from the Syrians, but would not heed the warnings of danger from his sins. Such warnings are little heeded by most; they would save themselves from death, but will not from hell. Nothing that is done, said, or thought, by any person, in any place, at any time, is out of God's knowledge.

Verses 13-23 What Elisha said to his servant is spoken to all the faithful servants of God, when without are fightings, and within are fears. Fear not, with that fear which has torment and amazement; for they that are with us, to protect us, are more than they that are against us, to destroy us. The eyes of his body were open, and with them he saw the danger. Lord, open the eyes of our faith, that with them we may see thy protecting hand. The clearer sight we have of the sovereignty and power of Heaven, the less we shall fear the troubles of earth. Satan, the god of this world, blinds men's eyes, and so deludes them unto their own ruin; but when God enlightens their eyes, they see themselves in the midst of their enemies, captives to Satan, and in danger of hell, though, before, they thought their condition good. When Elisha had the Syrians at his mercy, he made it appear that he was influenced by Divine goodness as well as Divine power. Let us not be overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. The Syrians saw it was to no purpose to try to assault so great and so good a man.

Verses 24-33 Learn to value plenty, and to be thankful for it; see how contemptible money is, when in time of famine it is so freely parted with for any thing that is eatable! The language of Jehoram to the woman may be the language of despair. See the word of God fulfilled; among the threatenings of God's judgments upon Israel for their sins, this was one, that they should eat the flesh of their own children, ( Deuteronomy 28:53-57 ) . The truth and the awful justice of God were displayed in this horrible transaction. Alas! what miseries sin has brought upon the world! But the foolishness of man perverts his way, and then his heart frets against the Lord. The king swears the death of Elisha. Wicked men will blame any one as the cause of their troubles, rather than themselves, and will not leave their sins. If rending the clothes, without a broken and contrite heart, would avail, if wearing sackcloth, without being renewed in the spirit of their mind, would serve, they would not stand out against the Lord. May the whole word of God increase in us reverent fear and holy hope, that we may be stedfast and immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that our labour is not in vain in the Lord.

In this chapter are recorded other wonders of Elisha, as causing iron to swim, 2Ki 6:1-7 having knowledge of the secret counsels of the king of Syria, which he disclosed to the king of Israel, 2Ki 6:8-12 smiting the Syrian army with blindness sent to take him, and which he led into the midst of Samaria, 2Ki 6:13-23, and the chapter is closed with an account of the siege of Samaria, and a sore famine in it, 2Ki 6:24-33.
