Yēlìmǐshū 50

1 Yēhéhuá jiè xiānzhī Yēlìmǐ lún Bābǐlún hé Jiālèdǐ rén zhī dì suǒ shuō de huà .

2 Nǐmen yào zaì wàn guó zhōng chuányáng bàogào , shù lì dà qí . yào bàogào , bùkĕ yǐnmán , shuō , Bābǐlún beì gōng qǔ , bǐ lè méng xiū , mǐ luó dá jīng huáng . Bābǐlún de shénxiàng dōu méng xiū . tāde ǒuxiàng dōu jīng huáng .

3 Yīn yǒu yī guó cóng bĕi fāng shang lái gōngjī tā , shǐ tāde dì huāngliáng , wú rén jūzhù , lián rén daì shēngchù dōu taó zǒu le .

4 Yēhéhuá shuō , dāng nà rìzi , nàshíhòu , Yǐsèliè rén yào hé Yóudà rén tóng lái , suí zǒu suí kū , xúnqiú Yēhéhuá tāmende shén .

5 Tāmen bì fǎngwèn Xī \'ān , yòu miàn xiàng zhèlǐ , shuō , lái ba , nǐmen yào yǔ Yēhéhuá liánhé wèi yǒngyuǎn bù wáng de yuē .

6 Wǒde bǎixìng zuò le míshī de yáng , mùrén shǐ tāmen zǒu cī lù , shǐ tāmen zhuǎn dào shān shang . tāmen cóng dà shān zǒu dào xiǎo shān , jìng wáng le ānxiē zhī chù .

7 Fán yùjiàn tāmende , jiù bǎ tāmen tūn miè . dírén shuō , wǒmen méiyǒu zuì . yīn tāmen dé zuì nà zuò gōngyì jū suǒ de Yēhéhuá , jiù shì tāmen lièzǔ suǒ yǎngwàng de Yēhéhuá .

8 Wǒ mín nǎ , nǐmen yào cóng Bābǐlún zhōng taó zǒu , cóng Jiālèdǐ rén zhī dì chū qù , yào xiàng yáng qún qiánmian zǒu de gōng shānyáng .

9 Yīn wǒ bì jīdòng liánhé de dà guó cóng bĕi fāng shang lái gōngjī Bābǐlún , tāmen yào bǎi zhèn gōngjī tā . tā bì cóng nàli beì gōng qǔ . tāmende jiàn hǎoxiàng shàn shè zhī yǒng shì de jiàn , yī zhī yĕ bù túrán fǎn huí .

10 JiālèDǐbì chéngwéi lüè wù . fán lǔlǜe tāde dōu bì xīn mǎn yì zú . zhè shì Yēhéhuá shuō de .

11 Qiǎngduó wǒ chǎnyè de a , nǐmen yīn huānxǐ kuaìlè , qiĕ xiàng chuaì gǔ sǎ huān de mǔ niúdú , yòu xiàng fā sī shēng de zhuàng mǎ .

12 Nǐmen de mǔ Bābǐlún jiù jíqí bào kuì , shēng nǐmen de bìrán méng xiū . tā yào liè zaì zhū guó zhī mò , chéngwéi kuàngyĕ , hàndì , shā mò .

13 Yīn Yēhéhuá de fèn nù , bì wú rén jūzhù , yào quán rán huāngliáng . fán jīngguò Bābǐlún de yào shòu jīnghaì , yòu yīn tā suǒ zāo de zāiyāng chīxiào .

14 Suǒ yǒu lá gōng de , nǐmen yào zaì Bābǐlún de sìwéi bǎi zhèn , shè jiàn gōngjī tā . búyào aìxī jiàn zhī , yīn tā dézuì le Yēhéhuá .

15 Nǐmen yào zaì tā sìwéi nè hǎn . tā yǐjing tóu xiáng . waì guō tān tā le , chéngqiáng chāihuǐ le , yīnwei zhè shì Yēhéhuá bàochóu de shì . nǐmen yào xiàng Bābǐlún bàochóu . tā zĕnyàng dāi rén , yĕ yào zĕnyàng dāi tā .

16 Nǐmen yào jiāng Bābǐlún sǎzhǒng de hé shōugē shí ná lián dāo de dōu jiǎnchú le . tāmen gèrén yīn pà qīyē de dāo jiàn , bì guī huí bĕn zú , taó dào bĕn tǔ .

17 Yǐsèliè Shìdá sǎn de yáng , shì beì shīzi gǎn chū de . shǒuxiān shì Yàshù wáng jiāng tā tūn miè , mòhòu shì Bābǐlún wáng Níbùjiǎnísǎ jiāng tāde gútou zhé duàn .

22 Jìng neì yǒu dǎzhàng hé dà huǐmiè de xiǎngshēng .

23 Quán dì de dà chuí hé jìng kǎn duàn pò huaì . Bābǐlún zaì liè guó zhōng hé jìng huāngliáng .

25 Yēhéhuá yǐjing kāi le wǔ kù , ná chū tā nǎohèn de bīngqì . yīnwei zhǔ wàn jūn zhī Yēhéhuá zaì Jiālèdǐ rén zhī dì yǒu dāng zuò de shì .

26 Nǐmen yào cóng jí yuǎn de biānjiè lái gōngjī tā , kāi tāde cāng lǐn , jiāng tā duī rú gāo duī , huǐmiè jìng jǐn , sī haó bù liú .

27 Yào shā tāde yīqiè niúdú , shǐ tāmen xià qù zāoyù shā lù . tāmen yǒu huò le , yīnwei zhuī tǎo tāmende rìzi yǐjing lái dào .

28 Yǒu cóng Bābǐlún zhī dì taóbì chūlai de rén , zaì Xī \'ān yáng shēng bàogào Yēhéhuá wǒmen de shén bàochóu , jiù shì wèi tāde diàn bàochóu .

29 Zhāo jí yīqiè gōngjiànshǒu lái gōngjī Bābǐlún . yào zaì Bābǐlún sìwéi ān yíng , búyào róng yī rén taótuō , zhào zhe tā suǒ zuò de bàoyìng tā . tā zĕnyàng dāi rén , yĕ yào zĕnyàng dāi tā , yīnwei tā xiàng Yēhéhuá Yǐsèliè de shèng zhĕ fā le kuángào .

30 Suǒyǐ tāde shàonián rén bì pú dǎo zaì jiē shang . dāng nà rì , yīqiè bīng dīng bì mò mò wú shēng . zhè shì Yēhéhuá shuō de .

31 Zhǔ wàn jūn zhī Yēhéhuá shuō , nǐ zhè kuángào de a , wǒ yǔ nǐ fǎnduì , yīnwei wǒ zhuī tǎo nǐde rìzi yǐjing lái dào .

32 Kuángào de bì bàn diē pú dǎo , wú rén fú qǐ . wǒ yĕ bì shǐ huǒ zaì tāde chéngyì zhōng lǐ qǐlai , jiāng tā sìwéi suǒyǒude jǐn xíng shāo miè .

33 Wàn jūn zhī Yēhéhuá rúcǐ shuō , Yǐsèliè rén hé Yóudà rén yītóng shòu qīyē . fán lǔlǜe tāmende dōu jǐn jǐn zhuāzhù tāmen , bù kĕn shìfàng .

34 Tāmende jiùshú zhǔ dà yǒu nénglì , wàn jūn zhī Yēhéhuá shì tāde míng . tā bì shēn qīng tāmende yuān , hǎo shǐ quán dì dé píngān , bìng jiǎorǎo Bābǐlún de jūmín .

35 Yēhéhuá shuō , yǒu dāo jiàn líndào Jiālèdǐ rén hé Bābǐlún de jūmín , bìng tāde shǒulǐng yǔ zhìhuì rén .

Yēlìmǐshū 50 Commentary

Chapter 50

The ruin of Babylon. (1-3,8-16,21-32,35-46;) The redemption of God's people. (4-7,17-20,33,34)

Verses 1-7 The king of Babylon was kind to Jeremiah, yet the prophet must foretell the ruin of that kingdom. If our friends are God's enemies, we dare not speak peace to them. The destruction of Babylon is spoken of as done thoroughly. Here is a word for the comfort of the Jews. They shall return to their God first, then to their own land; the promise of their conversion and reformation makes way for the other promises. Their tears flow not from the sorrow of the world, as when they went into captivity, but from godly sorrow. They shall seek after the Lord as their God, and have no more to do with idols. They shall think of returning to their own country. This represents the return of poor souls to God. In true converts there are sincere desires to attain the end, and constant cares to keep in the way. Their present case is lamented as very sad. The sins of professing Christians never will excuse those who rejoice in destroying them.

Verses 8-20 The desolation that shall be brought upon Babylon is set forth in a variety of expressions. The cause of this destruction is the wrath of the Lord. Babylon shall be wholly desolated; for she hath sinned against the Lord. Sin makes men a mark for the arrows of God's judgments. The mercy promised to the Israel of God, shall not only accompany, but arise from the destruction of Babylon. These sheep shall be gathered from the deserts, and put again into good pasture. All who return to God and their duty, shall find satisfaction of soul in so doing. Deliverances out of trouble are comforts indeed, when fruits of the forgiveness of sin.

Verses 21-32 The forces are mustered and empowered to destroy Babylon. Let them do what God demands, and they shall bring to pass what he threatens. The pride of men's hearts sets God against them, and ripens them apace for ruin. Babylon's pride must be her ruin; she has been proud against the Holy One of Israel; who can keep those up whom God will throw down?

Verses 33-46 It is Israel's comfort in distress, that, though they are weak, their Redeemer is strong. This may be applied to believers, who complain of the dominion of sin and corruption, and of their own weakness and manifold infirmities. Their Redeemer is able to keep what they commit to him; and sin shall not have dominion over them. He will give them that rest which remains for the people of God. Also here is Babylon's sin, and their punishment. The sins are, idolatry and persecution. He that will not save his people in their sins, never will countenance the wickedness of his open enemies. The judgments of God for these sins will lay them waste. In the judgments denounced against prosperous Babylon, and the mercies promised to afflicted Israel, we learn to choose to suffer affliction with the people of God, rather than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season.

Chapter Summary

INTRODUCTION TO JEREMIAH 50

This and the following chapter contain a long prophecy concerning the destruction of Babylon; and which is expressed in such language, that it may be, and is to be, accommodated to the destruction of mystical Babylon; and several passages in the book of the Revelation are borrowed from hence; and it is intermixed with promises and prophecies of the deliverance of God's people from thence, and of the conversion of the Jews, and the restoration of them to their own which will be at that time; see Jer 50:4,5,8,19,20,33,34. The destruction of Babylon in general is proclaimed and declared, and the manner and cause of it, Jer 50:1-13; then the enemies of Babylon are stirred up and animated to proceed against her, and execute the judgments of God upon her, Jer 50:14-30. Next follows the Lord's controversy with her, because of her pride and oppression of his people; and threatens her with the sword, drought, and utter destruction, Jer 50:31-40; and then a description is given of her enemies, that should be the instruments of her destruction, Jer 50:41-44; and the chapter is closed with observing, that this is all according to the counsel and purpose of God, Jer 50:45,46.
