Lièwángjìxià 25

1 Xī dǐ jiā beìpàn Bābǐlún wáng . tā zuò wáng dì jiǔ nián shí yuè chū shí rì , Bābǐlún wáng Níbùjiǎnísǎ shuaìlǐng quán jūn lái gōngjī Yēlùsǎlĕng , duì chéng ān yíng , sìwéi zhú lĕi gōng chéng .

2 Yúshì chéng beì wéi kùn , zhídào Xīdǐjiā wáng shí yī nián .

3 Sì yuè chū jiǔ rì , chéng lǐ yǒu dà jīhuāng , shènzhì bǎixìng dōu méiyǒu liángshi .

4 Chéng beì gōng pò , yīqiè bīng dīng jiù zaì yè jiān cóng kàojìn wáng yuán liǎng chéng zhōngjiān de mén taópǎo . Jiālèdǐ rén zhèngzaì sìwéi gōng chéng , wáng jiù xiàng yà là bā taó zǒu .

5 Jiālèdǐ de jūnduì zhuīgǎn wáng , zaì Yēlìgē de píngyuán zhuī shàng tā . tāde quán jūn dōu líkāi tā sì sǎn le .

6 Jiālèdǐ rén jiù ná zhù wáng , daì tā dào zaì lì Bǐlā de Bābǐlún wáng nàli shĕnpàn tā .

7 Zaì Xīdǐjiā yǎnqián shā le tāde zhòng zǐ , bìngqiĕ wān le Xīdǐjiā de yǎnjing , yòng tóng liàn suǒ zhe tā , daì dào Bābǐlún qù .

8 Bābǐlún wáng Níbùjiǎnísǎ shí jiǔ nián wǔ yuè chū qī rì , Bābǐlún wáng de chénpú , hùwèi zhǎng ní bù Sǎlā dàn lái dào Yēlùsǎlĕng ,

9 Yòng huǒ fùnshāo Yēhéhuá de diàn hé wánggōng , yòu fùnshāo Yēlùsǎlĕng de fángwū , jiù shì gè dà hù jiā de fángwū .

10 Gēn cóng hùwèi zhǎng Jiālèdǐ de quán jūn jiù chāihuǐ Yēlùsǎlĕng sìwéi de chéngqiáng .

11 Nàshí hùwèi zhǎng ní bù Sǎlā dàn jiāng chéng lǐ suǒ shèngxia de bǎixìng , bìng yǐjing tóu jiàng Bābǐlún wáng de rén , yǐjí dà zhòng suǒ shèngxia de rén , dōu lǔ qù le .

12 Dàn hùwèi zhǎng liú xià xiē mín zhōng zuì qióng de , shǐ tāmen xiūlǐ pútaóyuán , gēngzhòng tiándì .

13 Yēhéhuá diàn de tóng zhù , bìng Yēhéhuá diàn de pén zuò hé tóng hǎi , Jiālèdǐ rén dōu dá suì le , jiāng nà tóng yùn dào Bābǐlún qù le ,

14 Yòu daì qù guō , chǎnzi , là jiǎn , tiaógēng , bìng suǒ yòng de yīqiè tóng qì ,

15 Huǒ dǐng , wǎn , wúlùn jīn de yín de , hùwèi zhǎng yĕ dōu daì qù le .

16 Suǒluómén wèi Yēhéhuá diàn suǒ zào de liǎng gēn tóng zhù , yī gè tóng hǎi , hé jǐ gè pén zuò , zhè yīqiè de tóng , duō dé wúfǎ kĕ chēng .

17 Zhè yī gēn zhùzi gāo shí bā zhǒu , zhù shàng yǒu tóng dǐng , gāo sān zhǒu . tóng dǐng de zhōuwéi yǒu wǎngzi hé shíliu , dōu shì tóng de . nà yī gēn zhùzi , zhào cǐ yíyàng , yĕ yǒu wǎngzi .

18 Hùwèi zhǎng ná zhù Dàjìsī Xīláiyǎ , fù jìsī xī pān yà , hé sān gè bǎ mén de ,

19 Yòu cóng chéng zhōng ná zhù yī gè guǎnlǐ bīng dīng de guān ( huò zuò taì jiān ) , bìng zaì chéng lǐ suǒ yù cháng jiàn wáng miàn de wǔ gèrén hé jiǎn diǎn guó mín jūnzhǎng de shū jì , yǐjí chéng lǐ yùjiàn de guó mín liù shí gèrén .

20 Hùwèi zhǎng ní bù Sǎlā dàn jiāng zhèxie rén daì dào zaì lì Bǐlā de Bābǐlún wáng nàli .

21 Bābǐlún wáng jiù bǎ tāmen jī shā zaì Hāmǎ dì de lì Bǐlā . zhèyàng , Yóudà rén beìlǔ qù líkāi bĕn dì .

22 Zhìyú Yóudà guó shèngxia de mín , jiù shì Bābǐlún wáng Níbùjiǎnísǎ suǒ shèngxia de , Bābǐlún wáng lì le shā pān de sūnzi , yà xī gān de érziJīdàlì zuò tāmende shĕng zhǎng .

23 Zhòng jūnzhǎng hé shǔ tāmende rén tīngjian Bābǐlún wáng lì leJīdàlì zuò shĕng zhǎng , yúshì jūnzhǎng ní tàn yǎ de érzi Yǐshímǎlì , jiā Lìyà de érzi Yuēhānán , ní tuó fǎ rén dān hù miè de érzi Xīláiyǎ , Mǎjiā rén de érzi yǎ sǎ ní yà , hé shǔ tāmende rén dōu dào Mǐsībā jiànJīdàlì .

24 Jī dà lì xiàng tāmen hé shǔ tāmende rén qǐshì shuō , nǐmen bù bì jùpà Jiālèdǐ chénpú , zhǐguǎn zhù zaì zhè dì fúshì Bābǐlún wáng , jiù kĕyǐ dé fú .

25 Qī yuè jiān , zōng shì Yǐlìshā mǎ de sūnzi , ní tàn yǎ de érzi Yǐshímǎlì daì zhe shí gèrén lái , shā le jī dàLìhé tóng tā zaì Mǐsībā de Yóudà rén yǔ Jiālèdǐ rén .

26 Yúshì zhòng mín , wúlùn dà xiǎo , lián zhòng jūnzhǎng . yīnwei jùpà Jiālèdǐ rén , dōu qǐshēn wǎng Āijí qù le .

27 Yóudà wáng yuē Yǎjīn beìlǔ hòu sān shí qī nián , Bābǐlún wáng Yǐwèi mǐ luó dá yuán nián shí èr yuè èr shí qī rì , shǐ Yóudà wáng yuē Yǎjīn tái tóu , tí tā chū jiān .

28 Yòu duì tā shuō ēn yán , shǐ tāde wèi gāo guō yǔ tā yītóng zaì Bābǐlún zhòng wáng de wèi ,

29 Gĕi tā tuō le qiú fú . tā zhōng shēn cháng zaì Bābǐlún wáng miànqián chī fàn .

30 Wáng cì tā suǒ xū yòng de shíwù , rì rì cì tā yī fēn , zhōng shēn dōu shì zhèyàng .

Lièwángjìxià 25 Commentary

Chapter 25

Jerusalem besieged, Zedekiah taken. (1-7) The temple burnt, The people carried into captivity. (8-21) The rest of the Jews flee into Egypt, Evil-merodach relieves the captivity of Jehoiachin. (22-30)

Verses 1-7 Jerusalem was so fortified, that it could not be taken till famine rendered the besieged unable to resist. In the prophecy and Lamentations of Jeremiah, we find more of this event; here it suffices to say, that the impiety and misery of the besieged were very great. At length the city was taken by storm. The king, his family, and his great men escaped in the night, by secret passages. But those deceive themselves who think to escape God's judgments, as much as those who think to brave them. By what befell Zedekiah, two prophecies, which seemed to contradict each other, were both fulfilled. Jeremiah prophesied that Zedekiah should be brought to Babylon, ( Jeremiah 32:5 , Jeremiah 34:3 ) ; Ezekiel, that he should not see Babylon, ( Ezekiel 12:13 ) . He was brought thither, but his eyes being put out, he did not see it.

Verses 8-21 The city and temple were burnt, and, it is probable, the ark in it. By this, God showed how little he cares for the outward pomp of his worship, when the life and power of religion are neglected. The walls of Jerusalem were thrown down, and the people carried captive to Babylon. The vessels of the temple were carried away. When the things signified were sinned away, what should the signs stand there for? It was righteous with God to deprive those of the benefit of his worship, who had preferred false worships before it; those that would have many altars, now shall have none. As the Lord spared not the angels that sinned, as he doomed the whole race of fallen men to the grave, and all unbelievers to hell, and as he spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, we need not wonder at any miseries he may bring upon guilty nations, churches, or persons.

Verses 22-30 The king of Babylon appointed Gedaliah to be the governor and protector of the Jews left their land. But the things of their peace were so hidden from their eyes, that they knew not when they were well off. Ishmael basely slew him and all his friends, and, against the counsel of Jeremiah, the rest went to Egypt. Thus was a full end made of them by their own folly and disobedience; see Jeremiah chap. 40 to 45. Jehoiachin was released out of prison, where he had been kept 37 years. Let none say that they shall never see good again, because they have long seen little but evil: the most miserable know not what turn Providence may yet give to their affairs, nor what comforts they are reserved for, according to the days wherein they have been afflicted. Even in this world the Saviour brings a release from bondage to the distressed sinner who seeks him, bestowing foretastes of the pleasures which are at his right hand for evermore. Sin alone can hurt us; Jesus alone can do good to sinners.

In this chapter is an account of the siege, taking, and burning of the city of Jerusalem, and of the carrying captive the king and the inhabitants to Babylon, 2Ki 25:1-12, as also of the pillars and vessels of the temple brought thither, 2Ki 25:13-17 and of the putting to death several of the principal persons of the land, 2Ki 25:18-22, and of the miserable condition of the rest under Gedaliah, whom Ishmael slew, 2Ki 25:23-26, and the chapter, and so the history, is concluded with the kindness Jehoiachin met with from the king of Babylon, after thirty seven years' captivity, 2Ki 25:27-30.
