Sāmǔĕrjìxià 12

1 Yēhéhuá chāiqiǎn Nádān qù jiàn Dàwèi . Nádān dào le Dàwèi nàli , duì tā shuō , zaì yī zuò chéng lǐ yǒu liǎng gèrén , yī gè shì fù hù , yī gè shì qióngrén .

2 Fù hù yǒu xǔduō niú qún yáng qún .

3 Qióngrén chúle suǒ mǎi lái yǎnghuo de yī zhǐ xiǎo mǔ yánggāo zhī waì , bié wú suǒ yǒu . yánggāo zaì tā jiā lǐ hé tā érnǚ yītóng zhǎngdà , chī tā suǒ chī de , hē tā suǒ hē de , shuì zaì tā huái zhōng , zaì tā kàn lái rútóng nǚér yíyàng .

4 Yǒu yī kèren lái dào zhè fù hù jiā lǐ . fù hù shĕ bùdé cóng zìjǐ de niú qún yáng qún zhōng qǔ yī zhǐ yùbeì gĕi kèren chī , què qǔ le nà qióngrén de yánggāo , yùbeì gĕi kèren chī .

5 Dàwèi jiù shén nǎonù nà rén , duì Nádān shuō , wǒ zhǐ zhe yǒngshēng de Yēhéhuá qǐshì , xíng zhè shì de rén gāisǐ .

6 Tā bì chánghuán yánggāo sì beì . yīnwei tā xíng zhè shì , méiyǒu liánxù de xīn .

7 Ná dān duì Dàwèi shuō , nǐ jiù shì nà rén . Yēhéhuá Yǐsèliè de shén rúcǐ shuō , wǒ gāo nǐ zuò Yǐsèliè de wáng , jiù nǐ tuōlí Sǎoluó de shǒu .

8 Wǒ jiāng nǐ zhǔrén de jiāyè cìgĕi nǐ , jiāng nǐ zhǔrén de qī jiāo zaì nǐ huái lǐ , yòu jiāng Yǐsèliè hé Yóudà jiā cìgĕi nǐ . nǐ ruò hái yǐwéi bùzú , wǒ zǎo jiù jiābeì dì cìgĕi nǐ .

9 Nǐ wèishénme miǎoshì Yēhéhuá de mìnglìng , xíng tā yǎn zhōng kàn wéi è de shì ne . nǐ jiè Yàmén rén de dāo shāhaì Hèrén Wūlìyà , yòu qǔ le tāde qī wéi qī .

10 Nǐ jì miǎoshì wǒ , qǔ le Hèrén Wūlìyà de qī wéi qī , suǒyǐ dāo jiàn bì yǒng bù líkāi péi de jiā .

11 Yēhéhuá rúcǐ shuō , wǒ bì cóng nǐ jiā zhōng xīngqǐ huòhuàn gōngjī nǐ . wǒ bì zaì nǐ yǎnqián bǎ nǐde fēi pín cìgĕi biérén , tā zaì rì guāng zhī xià jiù yǔ tāmen tóng qǐn .

12 Nǐ zaì ànzhōng xíng zhè shì , wǒ què yào zaì Yǐsèliè zhòngrén miànqián , rì guāng zhī xià , bàoyìng nǐ .

13 Dàwèi duì Nádān shuō , wǒ dé zuì Yēhéhuá le . Nádān shuō , Yēhéhuá yǐjing chúdiào nǐde zuì , nǐ bì búzhìyú sǐ .

14 Zhǐshì nǐ xíng zhè shì , jiào Yēhéhuá de chóudí dà dé xièdú de jīhuì , gùcǐ , nǐ suǒ dé de háizi bìdéng yào sǐ .

15 Ná dān jiù huí jiā qù le . Yēhéhuá jī dá Wūlìyà qī/4 gĕi Dàwèi suǒ shēng de háizi , shǐ tā dé zhòng bìng .

16 Suǒyǐ Dàwèi wèi zhè háizi kĕnqiú shén , érqiĕ jìnshí , jìnrù neì shì , zhōng yè tǎng zaì dì shàng .

17 Tā jiā zhōng de lǎo chén lái dào tā pángbiān , yào bǎ tā cóng dì shàng fú qǐlai , tā què bù kĕn qǐlai , yĕ bù tóng tāmen chī fàn .

18 Dào dì qī rì , háizi sǐ le . Dàwèi de chénpú bù gǎn gàosu tā háizi sǐ le , yīn tāmen shuō , háizi hái huó zhe de shíhou , wǒmen quàn tā , tā shàngqiĕ bù kĕn tīng wǒmen de huà , ruò gàosu tā háizi sǐ le , qǐbù gèngjiā yōushāng ma .

19 Dàwèi jiàn chénpú bǐcǐ dīshēng shuōhuà , jiù zhīdào háizi sǐ le , wèn chénpú shuō , háizi sǐ le ma . tāmen shuō , sǐ le .

20 Dàwèi jiù cóng dì shàng qǐlai , shù yù , mò gāo , huàn le yīshang , jìn Yēhéhuá de diàn jìngbaì . ránhòu huí gōng , fēnfu rén bǎi fàn , tā biàn chī le .

21 Chénpú wèn tā shuō , nǐ suǒ xíng de shì shénme yìsi . háizi huó zhe de shíhou , nǐ jìnshí kūqì . háizi sǐ le , nǐ dǎo qǐlai chī fàn .

22 Dàwèi shuō , háizi hái huó zhe , wǒ jìnshí kūqì . yīnwei wǒ xiǎng , huòzhĕ Yēhéhuá liánxù wǒ , shǐ háizi bù sǐ yĕ wèi kĕ zhī .

23 Háizi sǐ le , wǒ hébì jìnshí , wǒ qǐnéng shǐ tā fǎn huí ne . wǒ bì wǎng Tānàli qù , tā què bùnéng huí wǒ zhèlǐ lái .

24 Dàwèi ānwèi tāde qī bá Shìbā , yǔ tā tóng qǐn , tā jiù shēng le érzi , gĕi tā qǐmíng jiào Suǒluómén . Yēhéhuá yĕ xǐaì tā ,

25 Jiù jiè xiānzhī Nádān cì tā yī gè míngzi , jiào yé dǐ dǐ yà , yīnwei Yēhéhuá aì tā .

26 Yuē yē gōng qǔ Yàmén rén de jīngchéng là bā .

27 Yuē yē dǎfa shǐzhĕ qù jiàn Dàwèi , shuō , wǒ gōngdǎ là bā , qǔ qí shuǐ chéng .

28 Xiànzaì nǐ yào jùjí qíyú de jūn bīng lái , ān yíng wéi gōng zhè chéng , kǒngpà wǒ qǔ le zhè chéng , rén jiù yǐ wǒde míng jiào zhè chéng .

29 Yúshì Dàwèi jùjí zhòng jūn , wǎng là bā qù gōng chéng , jiù qǔ le zhè chéng ,

30 Duó le Yàmén rén zhī wáng suǒ daì de jīn guānmiǎn ( wáng huò zuò mǎ lè kān . mǎ lè kān jiù shì mǐ lè gōng , yòu míng mó luò , yà mén zú zhī shén míng ) , qí shàng de jīnzi zhòng yī tā lián dé , yòu qiàn zhe bǎoshí . rén jiāng zhè guānmiǎn daì zaì Dàwèi tóu shàng . 31 Jiāng chéng lǐ de rén là chūlai , fàng zaì jū xià , huò tiĕ pá xià , huò tiĕ fǔ xià , huò jiào tā jīngguò zhuān yáo ( huò zuò jiàng tāmen yòng jū , huò yòng dá liángshi de tiĕ qì , huò yòng tiĕ fǔ zuò gōng , huò shǐ zaì zhuān yáo lǐ fú yì ) . Sāmǔĕrjìxià 12 Commentary

Chapter 12

Nathan's parable-David confesses his sin. (1-14) The birth of Solomon. (15-25) David's severity to the Ammonites. (26-31)

Verses 1-14 God will not suffer his people to lie still in sin. By this parable Nathan drew from David a sentence against himself. Great need there is of prudence in giving reproofs. In his application, he was faithful. He says in plain terms, Thou art the man. God shows how much he hates sin, even in his own people; and wherever he finds it, he will not let it go unpunished. David says not a word to excuse himself or make light of his sin, but freely owns it. When David said, I have sinned, and Nathan perceived that he was a true penitent, he assured him his sin was forgiven. Thou shalt not die: that is, not die eternally, nor be for ever put away from God, as thou wouldest have been, if thou hadst not put away the sin. Though thou shalt all thy days be chastened of the Lord, yet thou shalt not be condemned with the world. There is this great evil in the sins of those who profess religion and relation to God, that they furnish the enemies of God and religion with matter for reproach and blasphemy. And it appears from David's case, that even where pardon is obtained, the Lord will visit the transgression of his people with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes. For one momentary gratification of a vile lust, David had to endure many days and years of extreme distress.

Verses 15-25 David now penned the 51st Psalm, in which, though he had been assured that his sin was pardoned, he prays earnestly for pardon, and greatly laments his sin. He was willing to bear the shame of it, to have it ever before him, to be continually upbraided with it. God gives us leave to be earnest with him in prayer for particular blessings, from trust in his power and general mercy, though we have no particular promise to build upon. David patiently submitted to the will of God in the death of one child, and God made up the loss to his advantage, in the birth of another. The way to have creature comforts continued or restored, or the loss made up some other way, is cheerfully to resign them to God. God, by his grace, particularly owned and favoured that son, and ordered him to be called Jedidiah, Beloved of the Lord. Our prayers for our children are graciously and as fully answered when some of them die in their infancy, for they are well taken care of, and when others live, "beloved of the Lord."

Verses 26-31 To be thus severe in putting the children of Ammon to slavery was a sign that David's heart was not yet made soft by repentance, at the time when this took place. We shall be most compassionate, kind, and forgiving to others, when we most feel our need of the Lord's forgiving love, and taste the sweetness of it in our own souls.

Nathan is sent to David to charge him with his sin, and convince him of it by a parable, 2Sa 12:1-6; which being accommodated and applied to David's case, brought him to a conviction and acknowledgment of it, and repentance for it, which was forgiven him, 2Sa 12:7-13; though he is told the child begotten in adultery should die, and it was quickly struck with sickness and died; and David's behaviour during its sickness and at its death is recorded, 2Sa 12:14-23; after which Solomon was born to him of the same woman, and had the name of Jedidiah given him by the Lord, which signifies the beloved of the Lord, and as a token of reconciliation, and a confirmation of his sin being forgiven him, 2Sa 12:24,25; and the chapter is concluded with the taking of the city of Rabbah, and the spoil in it, and the usage of the inhabitants of it, 2Sa 12:26-31.
