The second lot came out for the tribe of Simeon, clan by clan. Their inheritance lay within the territory of Judah.12
It included: Beersheba2 (or Sheba),a Moladah,33
Hazar Shual,4 Balah, Ezem,54
Eltolad,6 Bethul, Hormah,75
Ziklag,8 Beth Marcaboth, Hazar Susah,
Beth Lebaoth and Sharuhen--thirteen towns and their villages;
Ain, Rimmon,9 Ether and Ashan10--four towns and their villages--
and all the villages around these towns as far as Baalath Beer (Ramah in the Negev).11 This was the inheritance of the tribe of the Simeonites, clan by clan.
The inheritance of the Simeonites was taken from the share of Judah,12 because Judah's portion was more than they needed. So the Simeonites received their inheritance within the territory of Judah.13
The third lot came up for Zebulun,14 clan by clan: The boundary of their inheritance went as far as Sarid.1511
Going west it ran to Maralah, touched Dabbesheth, and extended to the ravine near Jokneam.1612
It turned east from Sarid17 toward the sunrise to the territory of Kisloth Tabor and went on to Daberath18 and up to Japhia.
Then it continued eastward to Gath Hepher19 and Eth Kazin; it came out at Rimmon20 and turned toward Neah.
There the boundary went around on the north to Hannathon and ended at the Valley of Iphtah El.2115
Included were Kattath, Nahalal,22 Shimron,23 Idalah and Bethlehem.24 There were twelve towns and their villages.
These towns and their villages were the inheritance of Zebulun,25 clan by clan.26
The fourth lot came out for Issachar,27 clan by clan.
Their territory included: Jezreel,28 Kesulloth, Shunem,2919
Hapharaim, Shion, Anaharath,
Rabbith, Kishion,30 Ebez,
Remeth, En Gannim,31 En Haddah and Beth Pazzez.
The boundary touched Tabor,32 Shahazumah and Beth Shemesh,33 and ended at the Jordan. There were sixteen towns and their villages.
These towns and their villages were the inheritance of the tribe of Issachar,34 clan by clan.35
The fifth lot came out for the tribe of Asher,36 clan by clan.
Their territory included: Helkath, Hali, Beten, Acshaph,3726
Allammelech, Amad and Mishal.38 On the west the boundary touched Carmel39 and Shihor Libnath.
It then turned east toward Beth Dagon,40 touched Zebulun41 and the Valley of Iphtah El,42 and went north to Beth Emek and Neiel, passing Cabul43 on the left.
It went to Abdon,b44 Rehob,45 Hammon46 and Kanah,47 as far as Greater Sidon.4829
The boundary then turned back toward Ramah49 and went to the fortified city of Tyre,50 turned toward Hosah and came out at the sea51 in the region of Aczib,5230
Ummah, Aphek53 and Rehob.54 There were twenty-two towns and their villages.
These towns and their villages were the inheritance of the tribe of Asher,55 clan by clan.
The sixth lot came out for Naphtali, clan by clan:
Their boundary went from Heleph and the large tree in Zaanannim,56 passing Adami Nekeb and Jabneel57 to Lakkum and ending at the Jordan.
The boundary ran west through Aznoth Tabor and came out at Hukkok.58 It touched Zebulun59 on the south, Asher on the west and the Jordanc on the east.
The fortified cities were Ziddim, Zer, Hammath,60 Rakkath, Kinnereth,6136
Adamah, Ramah,62 Hazor,6337
Kedesh,64 Edrei,65 En Hazor,
Iron, Migdal El, Horem, Beth Anath66 and Beth Shemesh.67 There were nineteen towns and their villages.
These towns and their villages were the inheritance of the tribe of Naphtali, clan by clan.68
The seventh lot came out for the tribe of Dan, clan by clan.
The territory of their inheritance included: Zorah, Eshtaol,69 Ir Shemesh,
Shaalabbin, Aijalon,70 Ithlah,
Elon, Timnah,71 Ekron,7244
Eltekeh, Gibbethon,73 Baalath,7445
Jehud, Bene Berak, Gath Rimmon,7546
Me Jarkon and Rakkon, with the area facing Joppa.7647
(But the Danites had difficulty taking possession of their territory,77 so they went up and attacked Leshem78, took it, put it to the sword and occupied it. They settled in Leshem and named79 it Dan after their forefather.)8048
These towns and their villages were the inheritance of the tribe of Dan,81 clan by clan.
When they had finished dividing the land into its allotted portions, the Israelites gave Joshua son of Nun an inheritance among them,
as the LORD had commanded. They gave him the town he asked for--Timnath Serahd82 in the hill country of Ephraim. And he built up the town and settled there.
These are the territories that Eleazar the priest, Joshua son of Nun and the heads of the tribal clans of Israel assigned by lot at Shiloh in the presence of the LORD at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting. And so they finished dividing83 the land.84
