Lìwèijì 20

1 Yēhéhuá duì Móxī shuō ,

2 Nǐ hái yào xiǎoyù Yǐsèliè rén shuō , fán Yǐsèliè rén , huò shì zaì Yǐsèliè zhōng jìjū de waìrén , bǎ zìjǐ de érnǚ xiàn gĕi mó luò de , zǒng yào zhìsǐ tā , bĕn dì rén yào yòng shítou bǎ tā dá sǐ .

3 Wǒ yĕ yào xiàng nà rén biàn liǎn , bǎ tā cóng mín zhōng jiǎnchú , yīnwei tā bǎ érnǚ xiàn gĕi mó luò , diànwū wǒde shèng suǒ , xièdú wǒde shèng míng .

4 Nà rén bǎ érnǚ xiàn gĕi mó luò , bĕn dì rén ruò yáng wéi bù jiàn , bú bǎ tā zhìsǐ ,

5 Wǒ jiù yào xiàng zhè rén hé tāde jia biàn liǎn , bǎ tā hé yīqiè suí tā yǔ mó luò xíng xié yín de rén dōu cóng mín zhōng jiǎnchú .

6 Rén piān xiàng jiāo guǐ de hé xíng wū shù de , suí tāmen xíng xié yín , wǒ yào xiàng nà rén biàn liǎn , bǎ tā cóng mín zhōng jiǎnchú .

7 Suǒyǐ nǐmen yào zì jié chéng shèng , yīnwei wǒ shì Yēhéhuá nǐmen de shén .

8 Nǐmen yào jǐn shǒu zūnxíng wǒde lǜ lì , wǒ shì jiào nǐmen chéng shèng de Yēhéhuá .

9 Fán zhòumà fùmǔ de , zǒng yào zhìsǐ tā , tā zhòumà le fùmǔ , tāde zuì ( zuì yuánwén zuò xuè , bĕn zhāng tóng ) yào guī dào tā shēnshang .

10 Yǔ línshè zhī qī xíng yín de , jiān fú yín fù dōu bì zhìsǐ .

11 Yǔ yìmǔ xíng yín de , jiù shì xiūrǔ le tā fùqin , zǒng yào bǎ tāmen èr rén zhìsǐ , zuì yào guī dào tāmen shēnshang .

12 Yǔ ér fù tóngfáng de , zǒng yào bǎ tāmen èr rén zhìsǐ , tāmen xíng le nì lún de shì , zuì yào guī dào tāmen shēnshang .

13 Rén ruò yǔ nánrén gǒuhé , xiàng yǔ nǚrén yíyàng , tāmen èr rén xíng le kè zēng de shì , zǒng yào bǎ tāmen zhìsǐ , zuì yào guī dào tāmen shēnshang .

14 Rén ruò qǔ qì , bìng qǔ qí mǔ , biàn shì dà è , yào bǎ zhè sān rén yòng huǒ fùnshāo , shǐ nǐmen zhōngjiān miǎn qù dà è .

15 Rén ruò yǔ shòu yín hé , zǒng yào zhìsǐ tā , yĕ yào shā nà shòu .

16 Nǚrén ruò yǔ shòu qīnjìn , yǔ tā yín hé , nǐ yào shā nà nǚrén hé nà shòu , zǒng yào bǎ tāmen zhìsǐ , zuì yào guī dào tāmen shēnshang .

17 Rén ruò qǔ tāde zǐ meì , wúlùn shì yì mǔ tóng fǔ de , shì yì fǔ tóng mǔ de , bǐcǐ jiàn le xiàtǐ , zhè shì kĕchǐ de shì , tāmen bì zaì bĕn mín de yǎnqián beì jiǎnchú . tā lù le zǐ meì de xiàtǐ , bì dāndāng zìjǐ de zuìniè .

18 Fùrén yǒu yuè jìng , ruò yǔ tā tóngfáng , lù le tāde xiàtǐ , jiù shì lù le fùrén de xuè yuán , fùrén yĕ lù le zìjǐ de xuè yuán , èr rén bì cóng mín zhōng jiǎnchú .

19 Bùkĕ lù yí mǔ huò shì gūmǔ de xiàtǐ , zhè shì lù le gǔròu zhī qīn de xiàtǐ , èr rén bì dāndāng zìjǐ de zuìniè .

20 Rén ruò yǔ bǎi shū zhī qì tóngfáng , jiù xiūrǔ le tāde bǎi shū , èr rén yào dāndāng zìjǐ de zuì , bì wú zǐ nǚ ér sǐ .

21 Rén ruò qǔ dìxiōng zhī qì , zhè bĕn shì wūhuì de shì , xiūrǔ le tāde dìxiōng , èr rén bì wú zǐ nǚ .

22 Suǒyǐ , nǐmen yào jǐn shǒu zūnxíng wǒ yīqiè de lǜ lì diǎnzhāng , miǎndé wǒ lǐng nǐmen qù zhù de nà dì bǎ nǐmen tǔ chū .

23 Wǒ zaì nǐmen miànqián suǒ zhú chū de guó mín , nǐmen bùkĕ suícóng tāmende fēngsú , yīnwei tāmen xíng le zhè yīqiè de shì , suǒyǐ wǒ yànwù tāmen .

24 Dàn wǒ duì nǐmen shuō guō , nǐmen yào chéngshòu tāmende dì , jiù shì wǒ yào cìgĕi nǐmen wéi yè , liú nǎi yǔ mì zhī dì . wǒ shì Yēhéhuá nǐmen de shén , shǐ nǐmen yǔ wàn mín yǒu fēnbié de .

25 Suǒyǐ , nǐmen yào bǎ jiéjìng hé bú jiéjìng de qín shòu fēnbié chūlai , bùkĕ yīn wǒ gĕi nǐmen fèn wéi bú jiéjìng de qín shòu , huò shì zīshēng zaì dì shàng de huó wù , shǐ zìjǐ chéngwéi kè zēngwù de .

26 Nǐmen yào guī wǒ wéi shèng , yīnwei wǒ Yēhéhuá shì shèng de , bìng jiào nǐmen yǔ wàn mín yǒu fēnbié , shǐ nǐmen zuò wǒde mín .

27 Wúlùn nánnǚ , shì jiāo guǐ de huò xíng wū shù de , zǒng yào zhìsǐ tāmen . rén bì yòng shítou bǎ tāmen dá sǐ , zuì yào guī dào tāmen shēnshang .

Lìwèijì 20 Commentary

Chapter 20

Law against sacrificing children to Moloch, Of children that curse their parents. (1-9) Laws repeated, Holiness enjoined. (10-27)

Verses 1-9 Are we shocked at the unnatural cruelty of the ancient idolaters in sacrificing their children? We may justly be so. But are there not very many parents, who, by bad teaching and wicked examples, and by the mysteries of iniquity which they show their children, devote them to the service of Satan, and forward their everlasting ruin, in a manner even more to be lamented? What an account must such parents render to God, and what a meeting will they have with their children at the day of judgment! On the other hand, let children remember that he who cursed father or mother was surely put to death. This law Christ confirmed. Laws which were made before are repeated, and penalties annexed to them. If men will not avoid evil practices, because the law has made these practices sin, and it is right that we go on that principle, surely they should avoid them when the law has made them death, from a principle of self-preservation. In the midst of these laws comes in a general charge, Sanctify yourselves, and be ye holy. It is the Lord that sanctifies, and his work will be done, though it be difficult. Yet his grace is so far from doing away our endeavours, that it strongly encourages them. Work out your salvation, for it is God that worketh in you.

Verses 10-27 These verses repeat what had been said before, but it was needful there should be line upon line. What praises we owe to God that he has taught the evil of sin, and the sure way of deliverance from it! May we have grace to adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things; may we have no fellowship with unfruitful works of darkness, but reprove them.

INTRODUCTION TO LEVITICUS 20

In this chapter several laws are, repeated, enforced with a penalty annexed to them, and the breach them made capital, to deter from it, as giving seed to Molech, Le 20:1-5; going after such that have familiar spirits, or are wizards, Le 20:6; by shunning which, and other sins, a regard would be shown to holiness, Le 20:7,8; such as cursing parents, Le 20:9; committing adultery, Le 20:10; incestuous copulations, and marriages, and beastly actions, Le 20:11-21; all which it became the Israelites to avoid, lest, when come into the land of Canaan, they should be cast out of it, as the old inhabitants were for the same things, Le 20:22-24; and therefore, that they might appear to be a distinct people from others, they were to put a difference between clean and unclean creatures, Le 20:25,26; and the chapter is closed with a law, making it death for any person to have a familiar spirit, or to be a wizard, Le 19:27.
